Optus to cease offering QFF points as of 30/06/15

Just checked my statement, and my 500 points were credited.

So now I am wondering where we go from here. The original terms said we would get the points end of July if our Optus service was still current at June 30. Can we now leave Optus on July 1?

I picked up a cheap Telstra sim back in January, and waiting to cancel Optus and move to a Telstra PAYG plan, though I am wondering if I should go to Virgin and get Velocity points instead. I am intending to dump QFF once I accumulate the 256k points I need for a return Business Class flight to London. Got to find another 18K points to reach my goal. No easy task now I am retired.

Well I notice I've received my 1k bonus points today. A little earlier than I expected.

I'm assuming if I prepay my Optus account I'll still get some points if done before 30 June. That's worked before.

Need to trigger a bonus point offer from a new credit card so I might do this.

Heh, want it all eh Coyote25?
Good to try though, but I have an inkling that once the QF FF points have been added for the Optus "closing the alliance" offer, there might not be any more.
Edit: Aussiejohn, not hard, 18k QF FF points, you can go twice (return) every year with JQ within Australia, 3.2k per year, 5.6 years, and that 18k is yours!

Mrs_O got her 2k points too. Nice to see one partner, at least, crediting bonus points on time.

I don't 'want it all'

But since they said we would get frequent flyer points til the end of june I better get my points up to and including payment made to the 30 june!

Just cause you all got your bonus points prior to the end of the arrangements does not mean they should not honour the normal agreement!

I may be old, but I am not yet senile. Travel on Jetstar! Never in a million years. Once was enough. I got far better service on Tiger, and that's saying something! The only LCC I comfortable with is Air Asia X. Never had any problems with them, but that is not to say they won't turn on me in the future.

Noted, but for eg, no where will I get an $85 while earning FF mileage and SC from ADL to MEL/vv. Snagged one $69 plus $15 fare for one of these 2 city pairs a few weeks ago.
VA fares mostly sit on the $109 set these days for the 2 cities.
I know, in the past, I too have bagged JQ, but they are cheapo.

Mmm, Ozgirl.
I am also prepaid with Optus, ... might just play a $30 game and see if I get another 500 QF FF points bonus.

Has anyone heard any rumours as to who Qantas may align themselves with once the change is completed?

Received 3000 bonus points from Optus on 6 June. Now looking at the "no annual fee in the first year" ANZ 50k offer to bump up points ($3k qualifying spend required). Just have to remember to cancel the card ;-)

Looks like I just got my last standard points as well as my goodbye present. Onwards and upwards - I chose Optus as my carrier long before they paired with QF and started offering points.

Better go and check my wife's account.

Hmmm, no bonus in her account yet...

I wonder if I made a prepayment before 30 June, whether I'd get points??

Optus clearly say that points cut out on 30 June, so your inkling would in fact be a no.

There are much quicker and better ways to earn 18000 points than flying jetstar.

Does anyone know how they determine the level of bonus? I see some people have received 1000pts, 2000pts etc while some like myself only got 500pts.

I assume it is based on the number/quantity of services. I have Cable internet & TV, & a landline, and they gave me 3,000 points this week. Like QFWP I have been with them for years, initially because living in a deep hollow meant poor TV reception, and for 3 years Telstra could not sort out a crossed line affecting landline/modem performance (pre-ADSL days) and landline over fibre was a real winner (still is).

Mrs_O only has a mobile service. She is a long term customer but that's it and she got 2000 points. Not sure there is any discernible logic.

Long time Cable internet customer (8+ years), transfer to each new house over the years. But zilch bonus for me :(

Only an email from QFF saying of no more from june (with no mention of bonus).

If you don't want to wait, Qantas will sell you the points.

Or you could get to 280k points and buy a RTW J award fare? Bit more of a jump but few more flights included as well.

Or you could also pick up a new credit card, NAB had a 40k point offer I noticed.

Buying 18,000 points for $520 would be much easier than spending up to $18,000 to get the points! So I will give that some thought as it is easily doable.

A new credit card with an intro point offer as mentioned would be even nicer. But I have now retired and on the pension. No way would I qualify for a new credit card now. At some point I would have liked to change to a Velocity earning card, but I guess I will now have to stay with my Woolworths Visa and ANZ Platinum FF cards, as I can no longer meet income requirements for new cards.

With QF, you must have a reward in mind to buy points, and to buy 18,000 points, you must have 102,000 points, to give you 120,000 to get a one way F world award.
They say you cant buy more than 15% of a reward in mind.
But that is the musing of a know nothing, anyroad.
