It is a typo, 1120 is two SYD-xPER-KTA returns with the DSC. It's 140SC each way 280SC return, double that for the DSC.

You're right. I thought I put Syd per kta into the points calculator, then multiplier by 2 and 2 again. I actually selected the "return via same cities" option. Thanks for picking up my error.

It's too long a day for me so I'll do a SYD-BNE-TSV run.

markis10: can you please add SYD-xPER-BME to your wonderful summary on the first page of JASAs. Day return is possible, with 53,814 points and 140SC at 384 points/SC. It gives the Sydneysiders one more option :)

I've found two more new ones to the above ex-SYD in my own "guess and check" type method with the award booking tool

1) SYD-xPER-PHE = 140 SC for 54,653 points or 390 points/SC
2) SYD-xPER-ZNE: 140 SC for 54,448 points or 389 points/SC

Current SYD ones on the list which needing updating for the amount of points redemption (it's gone up again) with the following:

SYD-xBNE-TSV = 100 SCfor 37819 points or 378 points/SC (day return possible)
SYD-xPER-KTA = 140 SC for 53539 points or 382 points/SC (red-eye back possible)
SYD-xBNE-ISA = 100 SC for 39843 points or 398 points/SC (day return possible)

IMO Sydney has the worst points/SC options!!

Are these + dollars or no dollars

Have all these JASA's increased in price today? I've been waiting to book some JASA's and it seems that today they have all jumped in points. This is just a summary of a few of them

ADL-xSYD-OOL = was100 SC for 38179 points now 43,159
ADL-xBNE-TSV = was 120 SC for 38706 points now 43,686
ADL-xSYD-CBR = was 100 SC for 36014 points now 36,248
SYD-xBNE-TSV = was 100 SC for 37819 points now 42,799
MEL-xSYD-ASP = was 120 SC for 39466 points now 44,491

or is this just a glitch in the system?

its really changed the value of these.

Well the Syd-Bne-Tsv route hasn't changed, seeing as the points are the same as the in the post you quoted. I can't speak for the others.

I noticed you can book a FASA SYD-LHR on the A380 return for $1675 + 384000 points. So if you have the need to go to europe and have the points AND DSC offer I think it's a good deal to get WP with 1 return flight :)

CBR-SYD-ADL-PER RTN (overnight in PER) is tempting @ 360 SC for 108,000 (300 points/SC) or 72,000 and $242. With DSC that's WP for me...

Hi all,

I just thought if anyone is looking for a "GREAT" JASA status run, check this out......!!!
MEL/SYD to BROOME return (via Perth) is coming up at a minumum of 72,000 points and approx $540.00.
This will earn 280 status points, and can be done in the same day (crazy, but good value).

Happy flying !!

I just did PER-MEL-CNS for 72,000 pts and around $550. That got me 320 SC, which will be 640 when doubled :)

Just a heads-up in regards to the current Jetstar 9th birthday sale. Checking flights from SYD-WLG (via AKL) the cost is only $93 each way and the add on for the plus bundle is only $2 extra each way! So for $190 all up return you should earn 60SC's, plus the opportunity to stock up on some duty-free at the same time. You will need an overnight stay in WLG to make it work from what I can see, so factor that into the costs as well.

I think that this may have been an error that has now been corrected. I just tried on the JQ site and it didn't even offer WLG as a destination from SYD.

I haven't taken a look at the costs of JASA's for a while but had noticed that others have indicated that the prices have gone up. I thought I'd take a look and was shocked at the increases of around 25% for many routes.

My home base is MEL and the "cheap" MEL-xSYD-ASP run is still the cheapest and one of only 6 routes that I can find that still offer sub 400 points/SC options (looking at mid-Oct 2013):

TSV-xBNE-DRW - 327 pts/SC
CBR-xSYD-HBA - 338
TSV-xBNE-ADL - 370
HBA-xMEL-xPER-KTA - 376
MEL-xSYD-ASP - 376
CBR-xMEL-xPER-KTA - 386

Cheapest out of other capital cities now seem to be:
PER-xSYD-CNS - 405
SYD-xBNE-TSV - 435

I'd be interested to know if there are any other sub 400 options out there.

I don't claim to be an expert in these matters but with the demise (I believe) in anything but point-to-point xASA's it doesn't mean that we can't still look for the best status credit runs.
If we take a look at the Points+Pay option (xASA ???) for some J class flights then we can see that our old favourites have become very expensive. Looking at points only for comparison purposes we have:

TSV-xBNE-DRW 135,700 for 140 SC or 969 points/SC
CBR-xSYD-HBA 97,200 for 100 SC or 972 points/SC

but, we can do better than that. For example:
SYD-xBNE-TSV 91,200 for 100 SC or 910 points/SC....so no positioning point up to TSV as the direct run from SYD is better value.

That's just the start. How about:
OOL-xSYD-xBNE-TSV (for those that will be missing the town) 110,000 for 140 SC or 786 points/SC
MEL-xSYD-OOL 56,400 for 80 SC or 705 points/SC
CBR-xSYD-OOL 48,700 for 80 SC or 609 points/SC
ADL-xSYD-OOL 57,600 for 100 SC or 576 points/SC

OOL could shape up as the new TSV and is much more accessible.

Sure, these are far more expensive than we have got used to but those fares were also going up in price. The advantage of these are shorter trips and far more availability as they are just regular fares. Also, for those short on points then you have the Points+Pay option down to as low as 5,000 points.
(I was looking at Jan 2014 for these prices).

Thanks for starting the homework for the "new world order"
