Can someone add this up for me, please?

2. Mr Rudd rejected suggestions he and his supporters were in any way responsible for recent polling showing Labor was in for a thumping defeat and could be reduced to fewer than 40 seats in Parliament.
2. "
We deserve re-election."

= ?

Right. Rudd has nothing to do with Labor being rejected by seven out of every ten Australians. So who's to blame for this?

And why would Rudd, a backbencher with no ministerial or committee or even party position be
'...out there campaigning in Tasmania for members of Parliament, I'm heading to Geelong tomorrow," he said.

He concluded by giving his opinion, "...
a leopard never changes its spots."

Right. I think we can count on a strong media contingent hopping on the plane to Geelong to see the extraordinary sight of a backbencher mounting a solo national campaign for the most selfless of motives.

So he's supposed to say "We should all give up hope and Tony Abbott will make a great PM."??? This from the man who distrusts politicians that lie????

Spot the hypocrisy ....

[Still waiting for those coherent thoughts. Maybe I should ask Christopher Pyne for one? (Sarcasm alert for the truly challenged on this thread)]

Then again if mad monk Abbott keeps all his spending promises... Come on we know he will renege on most of his promises (because they weren't written down), slash government spending on everything whether it is good or bad and then most likely keep most labour's new taxes and raise the GST. Welcome to the Thatcher period of Australian history ala Tony Abbott Style.

I think he's already using the get out of jail card by saying he will go with the governments cuts because there is a budget emergency. Once he gets in there'll be an announcement that the budget situation was far worse than their wildest dreams and some tough decisions will need to be made.

Someone has to do something though because we can't go on as we are but at the same time they need to make sure they don't push us into recession. Every single business I talk to (including my own) is very quiet at the moment I hope it's down to uncertainty about the election or what TA will do but who knows. Discretionary spending has dropped substantially that's for sure.

This bit makes no sense.Campaigning in Tasmania by flying to Geelong.Oh hang on,he can walk on water can't he?

I don't mind listening to Rudd. He speaks with authority. His voice is pleasant to listen to. As a backbencher in Qld speaking in Geelong he gives me a chuckle. Of course we are supposed to forget that when he was PM his support zeroed out. But that's pretty much par for the course with Labor.

Moody, one day you might just save your snide comments for the politicians and not the posters on this thread.

This is soooo good, it is worth repeating! Does AFF stand for "Association of Far-right Fantasists" or is it something that relates to those flying machine thingies that, you know, let you fly????

I'm very fair minded - I dispense disdain to ALL that deserve it.

Kevin Rudd has many good qualities but was ultimately brought down by his own hubris. I somehow doubt that Labour will re-install him as leader after the election defeat, but a come-back further down the track is not impossible if he can mend enough bridges.

Surely even as a loyal labor party person you must have some issues with Gillard's leadership?

As far as reinstalling Rudd I agree, it won't happen. I wonder who will be left to put up their hand though. Can't imagine Gillard as opposition leader but if that happens she will create a whole new definition of that role. And she won't be able to get away with the sexist stuff anymore.

As a female I'm totally sick of the female brigade who scream across the bench (eg Plibersek yesterday) but if the opposition did the same it would be called bullying and harassment.

He talks pretty. But as a practical politician he didn't actually get much done besides making speeches and announcements. The killer for him, even with Gillard so desperately unpopular, is that very few in the ALP want him back. He's not a team player. Remember all those leaks last election?

Certainly I do. Julia Gillard was a good deputy and is still a great performer in parliament, but she's not so good at keeping the troops in line and communicating policy to the electorate. Our 24-hour media spin cycle is partly to blame, but if you can't manipulate that then you are doomed.

There aren't many true believers left and fewer still who would pick up the poisoned chalice. Extremely unlikely that JG will stick around, and it's Tony Abbott who won't be able to get away with the sexist stuff anymore.

Did you watch a 5-second TT "bite" or watch "Order in the House"? If the former then I understand completely how you would come to that conclusion. If the latter then you would surely have seen JG, TP et al wipe the floor with the opposition. As Julia said last night, Tony Abbott and crew are so complacent that they treat parliament like a joke as they have the electorate totally fooled and hardly need to do more than show up.

And didn't anyone here watch the 7:30 Report last night? No comment on Christopher Pyne's outrageous lies? Lies so blatant that Leigh Sales felt obliged to put them on record by calling him a liar. Not worth discussing I suppose ....

I am female. I experienced sexism when I was one of the few female police Officers a few years ago, and I know what true sexism and misogyny is. Abbott is NOT SEXIST!

TT as in Today Tonight? Nope, we watch SBS news. I have watched Question Time for the last couple of weeks. As I have stated here before. And as I stated yesterday I am pretty much disgusted with BOTH sides but the female brigade on the Government side seem to do most of the screeching. If Gillard was a man and delivered one of her "wipe the floor" speeches then she would be accused of being a bully.

Didn't see it and therefore can't comment.

I haven't seen any Coalition person packing up their office ready to move into the Government areas. On the other hand it seems the rats are scuttling from the Government side.

What good qualities would they be?

LOL this tool got voted in on the back of work choices......then ruled over one of the worst work places in the country:confused:

He became everything that he opposed......the ALP have followed suit. Party for the working people - what a joke.

According to Roy Morgan , Katter,Palmer and Wiki are growing some legs. I hope they all put pressure on the Greens.

Wiki - why would anyone vote for a party/person that has a sexual offence allegation still standing - yuck!

I reckon Wilkie will get back in. Windsor & Oakshott are history:D

IIRC quite a few people in the know think Assange has been stitched up. He is a self centered person but he is right to be scared of the US justice system.

On a different note a great article on the NDIS and why their are some more important things then politics.

How life with Jack opened a premier's eyes

Same line peddle by many accused person & their friends!

Allegations of this nature are extremely serious.......why would anyone vote for someone that has this dark cloud hanging over them:confused: Better to be safe than sorry........

Read an article this week stating the Assange has turned into the very thing he despised - wouldn't be the first time. The article was written by someone inside the Wiki group.

If anyone deserves our pity it's Bradley Manning.......don't see too many left wingers standing up for him.

For once I agree with you Assange is certainly on the US hit list, there is no way he will go to Sweden & not end up in the USA they could have interviewed him in the UK without any problem the whole charges against him are a bit convenient IMHO but he only has himself to blame you can't take on governments and expect an easy life!

And ironically WorkChoices MkII will be introduced after the election.
