But how do you break it to the bogans that we can't keep flogging coal to the world and that means no second 60-inch 3-D TV this year? I tell you they will go screaming and hide under Tony's skirts before you can get a sentence out!

Right after you tell the billions of people in China, India and all other developing countries to sit in the dark and weave baskets rather than develop their own economies so that their quality of life improves.

Spot on - the first & only thing thing you need to know about the ALP/Green alliance......it's all about interest - self interest!

I'm not enjoying this forum as much as others. So much cough flying between contributors .. At least we won tonight in the rugby... And next week we'll wrap up the series!!!

Nope - an example of self interest is flogging more and more coal to China for profit when you know it is doing the planet harm. But greed always trumps altruism, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Unbelievable if true, Abbott says Turnbull virtually invented the internet in Australia.

Closely followed by Hockey suggesting he should have drowned Rudd when he had the chance ... And we thought Abbott's joke was a bad one.

China's going to buy it anyhow, why shouldn't we make money on it?

It's like uranuim though. Everyone is happy to sell it off but they wont consider using it to reduce our carbon footprint. And I'd be really happy to drink recycled water (and if you saw the huge carp in the River Murray then we are already drinking their rubbish anyway) but no one wants to bite the bullet and acknowledge that.

No, according to Moody's laws of economics if Australia didn't sell the coal then the Chinese would ignore all the other available coal in the world and not develop their economy and quality of life.

Moody likes to fly around the place like some of us and post instructions on how the world should be altruistic - from his computer which uses electricity and contains a variety of different metals and plastics, based in a country that has a high quality of life due to a developed economy.

Just interested in what business you work in moody, does everyone in your business have such problems with profits or is it just you? Do you have the secret to getting aeroplanes flying around powered by fairies pixies and unicorn dust? If you do please share.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the Businesses where people are employed - namely Government; Large Corporation; Small Business.

Would only take legislation to make it so, the same way particular drugs are made arbitrarily illegal.

That would be an act of economic terrorism, and would only be perpetrated by narrow-minded self interest groups like The Greens.

Indeed. Like the "narrow-minded self interest groups" who had legislation passed to ban things like dumping pollution into waterways and ozone into the atmosphere.

I'm not sure The Greens themselves have ever successfully crafted and passed legislation due to their inability to form a government with such a low number of MPs, but when they do, I'll give them the kudos for said legislation.

Uh huh. So how much influence do you think the Greens had on the Carbon Tax legislation ? It seems to be a pretty common theme in conservative circles it's their fault.

If you don't understand what the word "like" means, you shouldn't use it.
