I can't wait till this election is bloody over... So the mods can close this thread, as it feels never ending.

It'd be better if we hadn't spent the last decade sacrificing them to consumerism.

As it turns out we hardly have any exporters left, which is the biggest reason we're f*cked.

We are sort of becoming America, who lost their manufacturing base, but they at least have a large population and now cheap fuel which will revive their manufacturing base.

We may have thousands of years of energy from shale gas discoveries. Hopefully it will get used to develop industries that are world competitive like what is developing quickly in the US.

Or perhaps not because when you try that you think nsw is only one part of Australia means nsw is not part of Australia. What's that about ladies protesting too much. Seems apt.

NSW:confused: Once again you have me confused with other posters. Geez, try reading posts rather than just making stuff up.

Murdoch acolyte some slack!

Who is this Murdoch you seem so obsessed with? Does he write features for the Fairfax rags?

Since you seem to have an unhealthy appetite in knowing where I get my opinions from - I'll put you out of your misery:-

ABC
Fairfax
Most of all - common sense.

I'm intrigued by the myth being pushed that the Murdoch media is down on Labor for commercial reasons to do with the NBN.

Murdoch is typically down on governments of any flavour. Governments deserve criticism and the disconnect between incompetence and propaganda is endlessly entertaining. One is a public service, the second sells papers and is therefore commercial.

Just as we all love to hear about the church leader's mistresses, the incompetence, corruption, waste and failures of those who should be setting the example for us all are great entertainment.

Rudd, like many another politician but more so, cannot bear to admit any error. For six years The Australian has been happily front paging every Labor misstep. Rudd didn't mind when it was Gillard copping the criticism, but now that he's riding the pony, no criticism may be accepted or acknowledged.

Therefore, in his mind, there must be another factor in play to account for all the flak coming his way. Hence the Murdoch/NBN theory.

Our delightful labor party, through one of its ministerial advisers, in SA put out a tweet that Southcott, who holds his seat by a few hundred votes, was in Fiji instead of campaigning. While completely false, and the advisor was sprung as he'd tweeted under anonymity, given that Rudd didn't announce the election until the day or so before, even if he was still in Fiji I don't see how that was so bad anyway.

Just grubby politics. What was that about Trust?

I recall that he loved Murdoch when it was Howard copping the daily front page whipping. IIRC didn't Rudd make a bee-line for Murdoch whenever they were in the same city.....crawling is a AAA rated skill in the ALP.

Well, the Grattan Institute report "The Mining Boom - impacts and prospects" makes interesting reading

"The economic benefits of Australia’s 10-year mining boom far outweigh the costs, but the Federal Government has not saved enough of the boom’s proceeds to safeguard future Australian budgets."

I completed the VC too a day or so ago. I can't remember exactly but it was something like 59% ALP, 52% LP and 49% Green. Guess I'm pretty centre-left in terms of politics :p

I'm near the bottom right hand corner lol

It's made my mind up I should vote for Tony that's another floating voter for the LIbs :)

I did agree with the Greens on dental care though so I suppose that means I do have a social conscience after all.
