I especially like the suggestion that Peter Garrett has no life experience.

 That would be Thistlethwaite.......Garrett is  he has plenty of experience. I've seen him on stage countless times - the man can dance!

Apologies if anybody has posted this.

Re: Where will you be election day (September 14th)

I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

Here's another great article from Fairfax Abbott takes the lead

The sugar hit didn't last very long!

Rudd needs a better campaign team - hanging out at schools and facebook isn't going to secure the votes he needs.

The coalition are now 1.15 TA is moving into Black Caviar territory.

If he holds his own in these televised debates its game over for Rudd that's his last chance. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Rudd HQ I can imagine the tantrums and dummy spits are legendary.

Thanks Churches - but the electors will choose whom gets to be married, what books and movies we choose to see and other stuff about sex and reproduction thanks. And you would be well advised to steer clear of blatant politicking given the generous tax concessions and assistance to private schools that the church gets from federal and state governments via taxpayers of all religious persuasions.

Maybe just stick to your good work helping the underpriveledged/homeless etc etc without the grandstanding.

Re: Where will you be election day (September 14th)

Whatever floats your boat. There's a decent alignment with Coalition policy there, so it wouldn't be a big stretch for you.

Lol their policies look like they were knocked up after a few beers at the local pub
Actually, in amongst the rubbish there are a couple of important issues that are barely given lip service by the major parties - like foreign ownership of land and the increasing oligopolistic nature of many Australian markets (eg: supermarkets, petrol).

Which is the whole point of having lots of independents and minor parties - so those issues *are* raised and *do* get the attention and discussion they should.

You are clearly scared of democracy. Some of us, however, are not.

No I'm not scared of democracy I'm a big fan and a major fisherman so I was actually pleased that the shooters & fishers party have a bit of leverage on the NSW state government when it comes to the whole marine park issue although I think it's mostly under federal control.

The marine parks issue will certainly lose ALP some votes in this election judging by the amount of emails I get from various fishing clubs telling me not to vote for them or the greens.

I know it's of no relevance to most of the population but I just think its another nail in their coffin. They need all the votes they can get

Re: Where will you be election day (September 14th)

"Mr Lake lost the Prime Minister's confidence after he was forced to apologise for verbally abusing a fellow councillor during an argument at a Monash Council meeting 11 years ago." -ABC

Oh dear, I hope the phrase "Chinese ratf*uckers" wasn't used during an inflight meal experience. The hypocrisy of this is just breathtaking. If Rudd followed the standards he demands of others, he'd be a lovely bloke. His campaign team must be close to breaking by now.

Rather interesting ad in The Australian listing Rudd's failures when first time PM. Listed by Beattie, in 2010. Oops.

I am stunned. :shock:I just heard a report on the news that says Australian employers need to get staff to modify their accents and to stop using Aussie slang in the workplace as it is difficult for foreign workers in Australia to understand us. Are we to change the way we dress as well? We could go the whole hog to make them feel at home and get rid of democratic government.

What really angers me is that we (Australian taxpayers) have paid for a government department to write a report that the government thinks it is ok to tell us we should change ourselves, our accents & language so that we can fit in with the migrants!!!

Care to provide some sort of cite for that? It's hard to comment on something like that when there is no context nor any facts behind some vague news report. Thanks.

Has anyone been invited to participate in the Roy Morgan Reactor in tonight's debate?

I usually vote for the shooters party first in the senate. All part of my methodology of obtaining best value for money from the vote counters. Vote 1 for the person least likely to win a senate sport on the left side of the ballot paper. Then 2 for a person unlikely to win on the right side of the ballot paper. Then continue alternating.

By this method assuming they lay out the ballots from left to right according to the order on the ticket. Once they've laid out all the ones, and the votes for my number 1 get distributed to my 2. My ballot will get picked up and walked to the other end of the table. Then it'll get moved back to the opposite end in the next distribution. And so on.

See even voting is keeping people gainfully employed. And I'm getting value for my taxes.
