Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Care to provide some sort of cite for that? It's hard to comment on something like that when there is no context nor any facts behind some vague news report. Thanks.

Happy to Badgerboi....google is your friend, but you are right I should have been precise in what I posted rather than comment generally about a news item. "The Harmony in the Workplace" guide is what it is. It says that Australian culture can seem "alien'' to migrants. I would be surprised if it wasn't just as if I went to Italy, Spain, Greece, or Georgia (as in Republic of) I would expect to have significant language and cultural hurdles to overcome but I wouldn't be expecting anyone to change their cultural values so that I could fit in easier. Wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same?

Before anyone jumps on my case saying I shouldn't be proudly Australian by expecting migrants to "fit-in" with our culture and adopt our values I will tell you that I am first generation Australian and fiercely proud of Australia.

They are trying to make us a blancmange culture and dumb down our society.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Kate Lundy launched the "harmony" guide last week.

Before I forget here is a link to a news report of same - Sorry, cannot post the link as it contains cookies. Google Aussie worker's told to cut slang, or listen to the 6pm news.

I guess you ability at posting links is only surpassed by your ability at hyperbole.

By this method assuming they lay out the ballots from left to right according to the order on the ticket. Once they've laid out all the ones, and the votes for my number 1 get distributed to my 2. My ballot will get picked up and walked to the other end of the table. Then it'll get moved back to the opposite end in the next distribution. And so on.
LOL! I do something similar. Always I vote first for an independent with a platform I like. Not someone likely to get up, just so they get a first preference vote to encourage them, and to avoid any taxpayer-funded election campaign spend.

After that, I usually start with the highest number, working backwards from the most obnoxious platform. Usually there's some fringedweller way out on the right or left and there's no way I want to encourage them. In between, I arrange as I see fit, mixing Labor and Liberal in a way that must likewise confuse the scrutes.

Unfortunately in the ACT the Senate only elects two, so there's limited opportunity.

The ACT local government elections, OTOH, provide endless scope for amusement. No above-the-line voting, plus Robson rotation plus five or seven members elected in each electorate.

Google might well be my friend, but the information you initially gave was so vague that it might well have stretched that friendship; a google search of "report that Prozac heard on the news somewhere and didn't like" failed to give relevant results.

That cultural info was a main item on the news website and didn't even need a google to find.

Lol. Maybe Badger, try "Aussie worker's told to cut slang". It really did work for me. ;)
Sorry I didn't post the link but AFF didn't like the cookies (or so the message said).

"the news website"? Err, ok, whatever that might mean.

+lundy +harmony would have found the story. "Aussie worker's (sic) told to cut the slang" is a bit of a stretch from your initial post. It would have been a good clue to the fact that it's a Murdoch type of beat up though. Some of us like to hear news reports and do our own analysis, not have our "news" pre-digested.

Mate, you are just not as smart as you think you are.

Interesting debate. Rudd has no idea about helping business of any size.
i did my Reactor survey and nothing changed from the debate.
Its the economy that needs an adjustment to slow job losses and create new growth.

Abbott - clear winner!

No wonder Rudd wants to debate on facebook;)
