Because...?

Because its the truth, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out they don't have much of a clue about running a country and most of the voters recognise it...

They may be full of generous, bleeding hearts probably more suited to the Salvation Army or some such, but it takes something more to run an economy/business to pay for all the good things you want to do... We'd all be back in caves making our own baskets in short order with that bunch...

How is Ford feeling about our Kev? I think Ford are having to stand down workers this week.
He really is a bit of a f...wit!

And its only going to get worse as countdown to election day happens chaps, the vitriol will only increase with frustration of the inevitable...

And oh look, 4 pictures of Liberal pollies with nasty faces, we couldn't possibly find 4 nasty faces of Labor pollies could we, they were all pious saints... Give me a break, talk about dumb posts...
The snappers in the gallery live for such moments. And there's plenty of them from all over the chamber.

Here the photographer has captured the moment when the Coalition responded to Julia Gillard saying she had full and complete confidence in Craig Thomson.

Moments, rather. She defended him staunchly as the tide rose ever higher until the moment she tossed him a tin of money and cut him loose.

Lol like you and the rest of the granola gang are the most open minded people on the planet.
I'm beginning to feel that if we turned on the webcams on the various computers used by folk here, we'd get some similar expressions of outrage.

If we think that we are in such a moment, we should step away from the computer, go make a cup of tea, wander outside and smell the roses, give the wife a hug, look up at the big blue sky and enjoy our lives.

Maybe try something new for a bit of creativity and interest. I dunno, take up watercolours, flower arranging, a touch of makeup …

Forget gay marriage and asylum seekers. How does he feel about the real question on the mind of the voting male out in the west?

Ford or Holden?

C'mon, mate, this is your best chance to prove that you aren't wishy-washy sit-on-the-fence Kev. You've gotten over that. Now you can be a statesman.

I believe they want a lower income cap.

I'm actually a bit surprised at their support. I would have expected them to be aiming the money more at paying for publicly funded childcare.

Because Australia faces a contracting workforce as the baby boomers retire. We need all the skilled work we can get.

Gotta laugh

Gotta laugh. Kevin squibs a community debate in his own electorate that's been on his calendar for weeks. His glib last-moment stand-in declares the Prime Minister has "absolute commitment to the people of Griffith".

Well, obviously not.

Here's a certainty you can take to the bookies. After losing the election - a safe bet, judging by the odds - Kevin Rudd will quit politics, leaving the voters of Griffith to select a replacement at a by-election.

And that replacement could well be his current opponent. The one whose commitment to the voters was demonstrated by actually turning up at the candidates' debate.

(Nice shot of Kevin in the article. Perhaps he stepped in something nasty, perhaps he had lunch in the workers' canteen, but more likely he's just been given the latest polling figures.)

Well, why aren't we educating up our own citizens instead of plundering other nations for their best and brightest?

What have I noticed?

Some people like to post - others like to argue, belittle, distort, harangue, bully and be outright rude.

The world is full of pumped up keyboard warriors:!:

You clearly have NOT noticed the post before yours. Abuse in its highest form. This thread is about discussing the election. When I raise policy question about the election it's interesting to meet a wall of abuse from you and your mates. If anyone needs to look in the mirror. It's not moody.

Education means very little when your trying to replace 2 people with 1, just to maintain GDP.

You're.

We need better education.

Well that's a telling criticism. You've got me. Waste billions on the new baby bonus, PPL, is ok because my grammar is rubbish.

I got the best education that conservative icon, Joh the mad peanut farmer from Kingaroy, would buy me. Living proof that the right side of politics can not be trusted with education. If you really believe in education you shouldn't support Abbott.

So you don't actually have a reason, other than "waahhh".

The neoliberal philosophy followed by Liberals and Labour, along with most parties in other countries since the late '70s, has brought the world to the brink of economic destruction. It's pretty clear it's the mainstream parties who are "economically irresponsible".

I had the same education. And our school had a Commonwealth Library. And I went to uni, cheerfully paid for by the Commonwealth.

Who was it that abolished free tertiary education? Labor.

Both sides have pluses and minuses.

It was cheap and shabby of me to highlight a trivial and very widespread error. Especially in these days of autocorrect where the computer makes mistakes that were never contemplated.

Please forgive me.

That's what's called a Ponzi scheme.

We should be educating our own population, not using fly-by-night economic mercenaries.

Anyway, in 20-30 years most labour will be performed by robots. Why would we need more people again ?

LOL! We somehow seem to stumble along.

Thank goodness the Greens don't have their hands on the levers. We'd all be trashed.

Now, that's not the cheap shot you might take it for. Yes, the global economy has problems, and we can see the results here and there. When I was in Turkey recently, there were houses and estates all over that had apparently been abandoned in the middle of construction years ago. Whole neighbourhoods in Chicago standing idle and empty while people slept on the streets.

But the lunatic schemes of the Greens would send us all broke. We'd be investing billions in solar farms that turn the land ugly and barren. Bumping the tax rates up towards 99% to pay for street art. Replacing the defence force with yogic flyers. Cutting back on air travel except for senior Party members. Freeing the farm animals into the new national parks.

Lookee here - one of those disgraceful posts that amaroo was complaining about!

I can't wait to see the tut-tutting and hand-wringing amongst the Tony Abbott supporters that one of their own could be so crass and disingenuous about so important a matter. [Though I see Skyring has tried to ignore the smell and make light of it. You'd almost think he was a Coalition stooge!]
