Clive makes the "Joh for PM" campaign look credible.

What was that rubbish about Rupert Murdoch's wife being a spy for China? Really?

There are still ways of making money from this if you really believe it.

The betting is pretty clear right now - Coalition to win 91-100 seats is the firm favourite. Any more or less than that and there are fairly big prices available. Ditto with the ALP at 51-60 seats.

To be honest, I don't mind the Coalition winning but I get a bit uncomfortable with the likely extremity of the result already, so I hope his small sample is a bit of a statistical anomaly.

The people making money on the betting are the staffers with access to decent sized private polls in the marginals.

K Rudd @ Adelaide Uni as I write this post. Visiting the VC. Saying goodbye I suppose.

Good to see his car parked (1/2 hour already) with engine running demonstrating his carbon emission policy.

In an interview today he was asked about his proof of this statement, when pressed repeatedly he said that the interviewer should 'google it' and she'll see the proof. Wow.

Clive has made this election entertaining.

I have resisted commenting so far in this thread for fear of starting a firestorm!
But my comment is regarding Kevin Rudd's walk in Melbourne yesterday.
Surrounded by so many admirers in Kevin or Labor T shirts, enamoured of taking selfies.
Such a high proportion of Asian students, could it be that they were hired by Labor, or excited by their moment of fame?
Not sure many of them were actual voters.

So... it turns the difference between a fiscal emergency and responsible economic management is 6 billion over four years.

On one level im pleased that the opposition are following sound economic practice and leaving the budget basically as is. On another everything theyve said over the last 3 years about debt and deficits is absolute cough.

Probably the least worse option for the country I spose.

I liked the story about that walk. After Kevin left, a party organiser came around and collected up the t-shirts. Presumably to be handed out for the next photo-op.

Very little about these events is natural. Party stalwarts will be advised ahead of time, the police are informed, some of the bystanders will be security, the media will be scurrying around, there will be vehicles and activity. Some people will just turn on their heel when they see all this stuff going on - it turns into a bit of a circus and the challenge is to find someone genuine.

Obviously, this works for all parties. The campaign planners just get nervous as hell when contemplating setting their talent loose amongst real people. Anything could happen, and while it might be positive, it might also be negative and you can be sure that the negative stuff is going to wind up on the news.

Because Asian students don't vote ?
