... and the QP queues for their machine doubled ...... I asked why the J lounge did not have a pancake machine and the QP lounge had 2. They said there should be one in each lounge.
So you may be lucky and find a pancake machine in the Mel J lounge. If not do what I did. ...

Still QP 2, JL Nil in MEL.Same this morning (21/7/2011). Had to slum it in the QP lounge to get a pancake and then walk back to the J lounge to eat it. J staff said there should be one in each lounge, so it looks like the kitchen staff that serve both lounges had forgotten about us pancake poor but deserving WPs in the J lounge.
I'm sitting in the QP lounge in CBR typing this - not only is there no pancake machine but there's no soup, the toaster is still out from breakfast, and the little packs of butter have been "enhanced" and they now have two different types of revolting margarine... Another three weeks and I'll be WP and in the J lounge instead, where I understand there is also no pancake machine, but where they may at least have butter...None have been in the QP or the J lounge the last few times I've been in town. Maybe they haven't made it there yet.
Thanks somewhat OT but butter and marg are roughly equivalent calorie-wise, so approximately the same for the waistline!Rebekkap, I'd have to agree that butter is better (but maybe not as good for the waistline - not that I have that issue) and congratulations on your impending increase in status. Why can't QF get some consistency? Two in most QP's would suffice and at least 1 in each J Lounge (otherwise the lines would be long and take too long to get pancakes). I'm sure that all the CLounges already have them - anyone care to comment if they've seen them there?

I'd settle for just one pancake machine in ADL QP.
The food there is getting worse, not better.
They used to have cake in the afternoon. Gone. Yhey also had very nice pickles and mayonaise. Also gone.
Every other QP I visit has better food than ADL. Why?
I was flying QF last Monday morning but seeing a friend off, who was flying DJ, on a slightly earlier flight. I took her ino the DJ lounge and had a really nice breakfast with lots of little muffins and barista coffee.
After seeing her off I went to the QP to look for the pancake machine (I try to avoid morning flights so haven't been there in the morning for a while). Obviously I was dissapointed.
Of course it is possible that I'm blind and just didn't see it.
I mean, you still need someone in the kitchen refilling the batter anyway.

There was one in the PER QP domestic lounge on Monday morning, I was surprised by it and it kind of scared me, so I didn't get any, regretting it now lol pancakes would be the bomb, way better then the loaf of bread I consume in toast form in the morning whilst I'm there.
From what I know, the batter comes in bladders already pre-filled. Much like what you would find if you opened up the card board box that cask wine comes in. Therefore, I think that anyone could simply bring out the bladders and simply plug them into the machine.
