Passing of a Monarch

One of these days I will have gone through all mum and dad's stuff. Dad has been gone almost 9 years and mum six years .
It has taken me 25 years (parents in law died very young) and they had so much stuff. After your post I started looking for the coins. I’d put them in a safe place. Sigh. Eventually found them and was surprised to see I’d put them in the various denominations. Stamps. Still nothing done with them. I do know there are coins in the teens. Last century teens that is. And have the Queens Platinum coin on order.

In the way of the world they may get outed publicly now. Hopefully with the selfies. Asking the Queen to take the photo is priceless.
Love HM comment at the end about wanting to be a fly on the wall.

One of the things that puzzles me is the amount of flowers that are placed on occasions like this. A part of me thinks this is a waste because they're not going to last long and then they will rot and someone has to clean them up. The greenie in me thinks they would be better served in planting a tree with the money they paid for the flowers. YMMV

I felt the same with the floral tributes at Villers-Brettoneux when we were there for Anzac Day in 2018. At least the flowers offered to Royals in the general public are distributed to hospitals, etc.

I do understand and empathise with the desire to make some kind of show of affection, appreciation, mourning.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Royal family were asking people to make donations to charity rather than offer floral tributes.

Will they?
Usually the monarch's grandchildren, particularly the children of the monarch's sons, have titles/are Prince or Princess, but not necessarily great-grandchildren, which is why they didn't automatically get titles at birth.
Yes, the Princess Royal declined titles for her children.

The King didn't announce their titles in his speech, unlike the Waleses, so maybe it's still being worked out or finalised. I guess right now, the funeral and honouring QEII is more important than working out the titles of the 6th and 7th in line to the throne.

To whom do they distribute thre Marmalade sandwiches?

I was intrigued by the Pikemen and Musketeers at the Accession Council.
They are a ceremonial subdivision of the Honourable Artillery Company, staffed by volunteer veterans and only founded in the 1920s. They perform ceremonial functions for the Lord Mayor of London. It seems they received a royal warrant in 1955 so I wondered if they were there at the Queen's accession. Seems that they were.

Accession and proclamation are steeped in tradition. Here's how King Charles's compared to Queen Elizabeth's
