Passing of a Monarch

I'm on annual leave on Thurs 22 Sept so I guess I will get my AL day back. :)
I was going to work from Thailand on that day. Can have a day off now.

I'm not a monarchist but said to see the passing of QEII. She was a wonderful person.

That's a rubbish day. Completely pointless. The funeral will be done and who cares what Australia does in that respect. I'd rather work tbh.

Yep so now I lose a much needed day of paid work, as offices forced to close.

Those who are struggling to make ends meet in casual work atm the moment will love losing 1/5 of their income for the week. Short sighteness from government who get paid regardless.

I’ll be on west coast USA. Wonder if it will be on tv. And at what time.

Yep. Same here. Lost a valuable mid week day which will put back a project by months because of scheduling.

Mrsandye was working a night shift on the announcement of the death
In a rare lull, she went out to lower the flags to half-mast except one of the three got stuck. Had to call out maintenance and was told that she should have followed correct protocol. Didn't get into as much trouble as she was worried she might
Good intentions though..

The public holiday works for my employer and our customers, if people want to work they will get their penalty rates and if they want the the day off that's fine as well.

We placed our flag to half mast with a note made for the employee responsible on when it should be raised and lowered again.

Business like ours will need to close and cancel 'paid' work we had scheduled. Not everyone works in hospitality. esp those business that work with Govt and we know always close on the day.

I heard Thursday night the BBC anchors and readers had changed to black suit and tie with white shirt, being told this was protocol discussed some years ago. Didn't sound good and so when I heard the sad news in the morning I lowered my flag at 6am. I have a 10m pole and through the day my neighbours all commented.

I will also be on the west coast of the US I am guessing it will be on televised given royal connection to that neck of the woods.

Yes the procession of the coffin is live on most channels. It has just gone through Dundee again with large crowds.
The ordinary citizens are not up on flag protocol as all flags we passed today are at half mast. As they were yesterday.

Lots of anecdotes about the Queen being shared by those who worked in the Royal Household. My daughter once took a seating plan for an upcoming Royal banquet at BP for the Queen to review. She cast her eye over the whole layout, and then shook her head. We cannot have X sitting next to Y - they were seated together at an event several years ago. She smiled at my daughter knowing it was back to the drawing board because of the ramifications of making a change. Many others have talked about her incredible memory.

There was the time when the Queen sent a page around to a group of the household staff who were being very exuberant and suggested it was time to take the party elsewhere. Of course a suggestion from the Queen is not just a suggestion, but she had a gentle way of dealing with such issues.

I will be in London when the Queen’s funeral is on.
Will probably try to get out there amongst the crowds.

Glad I booked my hotel months ago!!!!
I have not yet reeived my official invitation to her funeral. But I don't think I will atrtend. I really don't like funerals. I'm just not a mourning person.

Last time we had a king . It appears to be from the year after Queen Elizabeth's father took the throne
This is a large heavy coin
