re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

Mines a bank issued AMEX- and its working.

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

My westpac Issued Amex card is working:D Hopefully my CBA one will work when I receive it.

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

Yep, can confirm that. My Amex Plat CC won't link, but my (never used) Altitude Amex will.

Ah well, better than nothing.

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

It's a ridiculous situation!

Unfortunately I do not have any bank-issued Amex.:(

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

My Westpac-issued Amex is working without problems, and I just added my newly-received CBA-issued Amex without issue either...

Is anyone else having any luck with bank-issued Amex cards? As from what's been written above it seems that it's only Amex-issued cards that are having problems.

I received my Amex card, added it without problems, payed for something last night about $1500 worth through paypal, Then realised the address was wrong, so Seller refunded the transaction.

I corrected it and went to pay again and its not working, same errors as everyone is saying. So I deleted card and trying to add it again, Bank refusing error message.

Should have just left the first transaction. Now im stuck in a loop, whether to repurchase the items with my Mastercard,, or wait. As seller had 150 items now only 4 left..!

Bloody paypal

Grr... after the bank-issued cards were working, now they're not again :@ :@ :@ I'm trying to use the Pay Anyone feature to pay for an order on a website with Amex... and it's back to the error message about the issuer declining the payment for both of my Amex cards... could they not have left it semi-working while fixing the Amex-Amex cards? :@ :@ :@

Sucks that i refunded my purchase, Tried to pay 1 day later again, to save $20, and lost 4000 points as i couldnt repurchase with my amex!

Now that would certainly suck!

I'm just going to wait until Amex is working again before I complete the order - I'm not just going to settle and use Visa/MC this time...

I'll be trying once a day on both cards until it works - so when it does I'll post again and then hopefully you can use yours again to get the points :)

Haha

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

My NAB Gold Velocity Reward AMEX doesn't work :(

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

The Amex logo has completely disappeared from the Paypal site and is not shown in the dropdown box when trying to add a card.

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

My AMEX transaction this morning on my previously working Westpac-issued card didn't seem to work.

Let's hope this is just PayPal's way of not falsely advertising something (ie. "Here's an item on eBay - you can pay with Amex through PayPal. Oh wait, Amex don't work yet, pay with another card or be hit with an unpaid item strike."

They seem to be making progress though - as my recent test payment between accounts showed my PayPal merchant name. Eg:

On the first day it was introduced, Australian Amex charges appeared on the bill as:

"PAYPAL SG Singapore SN AUSTRALIA AU"

Whereas the other day when bank-issued cards were working, my latest test payment appeared as:

"PAYPAL *CHRISCH SG AUSTRALIA AU" (actual merchant name changed for privacy reasons)

... perhaps they've just hidden the logos until they can safely advertise that ALL Amex AU cards can be successfully used?? Because they wouldn't go to all that trouble of fixing the merchant name issue only to throw it out a couple of days later :)

... at least that's what I'm hoping! :D

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

My Amex PayPal transactions look like this on my Amex statement:

PAYPAL *[MerchantName] SG Singapore SNG 8884

They are charged in US$ and include a COMM.FEE entry. I think the 8884 may be a truncated number as another transaction with a longer MerchantName only has 888 at the end of the line.

This was from transactions in the last few weeks.

$USD? Really?

Did you only register your card recently on PayPal AU, or were you among those who registered their cards years ago on PayPal US when Amex was $USD only? :)

Been registered for a long time. Been using it for years. The purchases were from overseas and the transaction was done in US$.

re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

Try to add my card in, unfortunately there is no AMEX option anymore from paypal, they have removed the AMEX logo from the web, it seems paypal is gonna abandon AMEX forever.

The title for this thread may need to change back to "NOT" again.:(

I too have experienced a mixed result with my AMEX in PayPal.

I received my new Commonweatlth bank AMEX late OCT-09, initially PayPal would not let me add this new card to my account. I tried again a few days later to add the card and PayPal accepted it. :)

I proceeded to make a purchase on eBay and paid with PayPal using my AMEX card and the transaction went smoothly. I repeated this for another half dozen other transactions.

However, now two weeks later PayPal displays a transaction error each time I try using the AMEX card. I have removed the AMEX card from my PayPal account and tried to add it again, this time PayPal would accept any AMEX cards. :(

As other users have noted, I have also noticed the AMEX logo removed from PayPals home page and the ability to select AMEX as your choice of credit card has been removed.

Re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

I added my Amex details to one of my Amex accounts when first alerted to it from this site, used it again today with no problems still.

Was never able to get my wife's card added to her account though, and it seems that opportunity may be lost.

Was a bit surprised mine worked after some of the other comments, see how long it lasts for...

Re: PayPal Australia now [NOT] accepting AmEx [Again!]

Just an observation, but I have noted that if you purchase from a merchants site that does not accept AMEX and use the Paypal option to purchase through Paypal with a registered AMEX card it does not work. Otherwise no problems.
