Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

Perhaps we'll see weekday 737 services with a couple of weekend A330 services. Better off using them than sitting them on the ground.

It costs more fuel and staffing to run an A330... so you would need higher load factors to even warrant a look.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

Great news for Perth. But I love this twitter comment very true, if people don't support the 737 then they won't get a bigger aircraft in future " put ur money where your mouth is Perth if u want bigger plane then show demand for the service book QF!" https://mobile.twitter.com/oliverpeterson/status/588646379267862528

Why should we support QF?

Give us decent service, good aircraft and we will support you. Australians are proud of their national airline, but don't treat WA as the poor cousins who will accept hand me downs.

Feels like WA is on parole with QF and unless we behave, tow the line we are not going to get any flights in Wa

QF have been gouging on flights to regional centres in WA for years, have a look at the pricing for return flights to say Port Hedland or Kalgoorlie, how about rewarding us?

Other airlines are killing the pig out of Perth, because QF can't

End of rant

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

Baby steps right?

Hopefully the timing is right, enticing people to fly the service.

Exactly, I'm not saying everyone blindly should book Qantas PER-SIN, but it obviously didn't work well with the A330 economics wise last time, so it is good at very least they are bringing a presence back, even if on a smaller scale, if there is demand and good yields there is no reason why it couldn't be moved back to a larger aircraft, or upgraded 737 J class for that route only..you never know.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

Great that it's now possible again to travel SIN-Australia on QF without it being an overnight flight! I'd much prefer to get SIN-PER and then PER-MEL the next day and avoid the overnight.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

This is a good start. However, unless QF is price competitive, this won't last.

I have friends who travel to Singapore frequently for work and business. They used to be loyal QF customers. They have discovered Scoot, pay a bit extra for the premium seats and love it. Not sure what the QF plan is to win back customers like them.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

Not ideal as it isn't daily nor on a A330, but its enough for me to support...

Now we can get back to moaning about the GST carve up:p....

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

I am so pleased to have the PER - SIN QF option reinstated. And I am happy that the flights are not overnight. The SIN -> PER time is a little late for me but overall, great news.

Prices start at $199 one way in Y for the rest of the month, so its not far from the LCCs if food and luggage are added.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

QF J prices "during special promotion" are around $2k return depending on days selected...not too bad given its a 737 and fact that'd you'd probably pay that on SQ for Y return.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

I think it's great news but I know people won't be happy no matter what happens.

I doubt I'd change into the pyjamas for SIN-PER though on the recliner J seat.

Re: QF to resume PER-SIN flights

PJs? For 3 hours after the meal service but before landing? Good luck changing in the WC!

I'm wondering if there is an option to configure a dedicated 738 with say 8 full flat business sleepers?

Based on the seat pitch for AA's 321T flagship service (58' pitch with a bed length of 78'), that would mean the removal of one row of business and one row of economy, for a total reduction of 10 seats... but a true international J service.
