Platinum "anytime" lounge Access ceases from 1 February 2011

I'm slightly confused about the "arrivals" benefit. If I come in on something like QF10 from Singapore to Melbourne, in the past I have popped into the club for a quick shower etc. Will this be classified as the same day of flight or will they claim that as I boarded the night before I have no same day flight?

Seams to be open to the interpretation of the lounge agent. Also is access to the J lounge or standard club? The reference is just to domestic lounges?

I think the red roo's wording early on was that you need to be arriving on a QF/OW flight on the same day. the fact that you boarded the night before doesnt change the fact that the flight on arrival is the same day.

if an dragon argued this then I would be asking to see a supervisor and if that failed I would be complaining through to the Platinum line and/or the Platinum customer care line.

You will have Domestic Lounge Access even though your boarding pass may have the previous day's date on it.

I believe you will get access to Domestic Business Lounge where available.

Qantas Lounge Access said:
Must be travelling on any flight the same day that shows Qantas, Jetstar Airlines+ or a oneworld flight number on your ticket.
Two guests allowed and do not need to be travelling.

If you look back a few posts, you'll see the quote from the QF website. In the situation you describe, you should be able to enter the domestic lounge after your international flight, but not the international lounge (as access to this requires an onward flight the same day).

As an aside, how were you able to do this in MEL international anyway? Isn't the QP there on the departures level?

Interesting that Oneworld Emeralds (excluding QF Platinum) do not get arrivals access to domestic lounges.

I also love how QF have covered all their bases and used the words 'Next onward flight that day' for lounge access.

That's what I was hoping would be the case.

My mistake - I wasn't very clear - at MEL I found it quite easy to pop into the domestic lounge.

If completing your journey into MEL, that's the only normal way - I believe that's what burrco was meaning by "the club" - i.e. QP.

I noticed today in DRW that the signage on the monitor above the premium checkin lines says "Business Class, Platinum & Gold Frequent Flyers" meaning that PS & QP have to use the pleb lane unless they've done OLCI or Mobile check and can use the dedicated lane for that.

I'm guessing that other ports will be the same except PER & SYD who've already gone live next NGCI. DRW don't cutover to Next Gen until mid-May.

I also mentioned elsewhere but the sign on the premium service desk in SYD T3 also changed this morning to only be business, platinum and gold. It included QP as recently as last week.

At a guess this is because priority check in of QP was removed today?

Entered both BNE and SYD domestic lounges today only flashing platinum card. No issues, anytime still exists...!

They could amend the rules so that you're allowed to access the lounge as long as one of your guests is traveling. (Its open to abuse, but it does allow people to enjoy the lounge with people when dropping them off at the airport.)

I could see WPs randomly asking people in the airport if they wanted a free trip to the DOM J lounge, and then taking them in as a travelling guest so they can get their own anytime access. It would be nice, but it wouldn't work.

Its a lot of effort for something minimal and it would only work for the dom qp's. Can't go airside for int flights.

Service & security lanes being policed and checked at MEL this morning.
Card scanner in operation at MEL QP entry desk.
Man at desk says "Ooh, let's see how this works". So I scanned the card and the machine showed green.

Walked straight through past DOM J desk, after flashing card.

Green because you actually had a QF flight booked for that day, as opposed to being a naughty WP trying to gain entry, gasp without flying that day.  :p

No scanning at SYD this morning - this was at 5:45AM so I expect they aren't hat concerned about anytime access at that time of day... It will be interesting to compare tomorrow flying out at 6PM from MEL - peak hour!

It would be amusing if everyone complained about the scanners causing huge lines....
