or they intend to backtrack the change, like they changed the International access in the last minute.

Sorry, quick question, as I have not been following this thread acrefully enough.

What are you referring to re the international access issue - have they reinstituted anytime access when flying internationally?

cheers

no we were told International lounges could be used upon arrival - however this was a late change to remove that access, much to the annoyance of people here.

No, this refers to allowing 'on arrival' access for WPs. We were told that this was being allowed in both domestic and international terminals; however it turns out that, when the modifications to the original plan were announced, this applies only to domestic terminals, i.e. there is no 'arrival access' in international terminals.

(Of course, in most cases, this would be useful only if you were intending to fly onwards, on the same day, with another carrier).

Posting this from the BNE Dom J lounge.

Flashed WP card at the front desk and waved through with a smile. For the record I am flying QF to ADL within the hour, checked in online and plan using the WP card at the gate for boarding, so not doing anything antagonistic or spiteful, just traveling as per the NGCI FAQ's.

As a pre-emtive post for this time tomorrow: Sitting in the ADL QP, flashed card at desk, told I need boarding pass, etc etc.

Well, you might be more than happy to go through the roleplay for a few minutes, but those of us in the queue behind you will not be!

Please show some consideration for other passengers and carry a copy of your booking!

If i saw a WP holding up the line being rejected/taking grief, I would immediately offer to guest them inside.

We're a team here!

That's the spirit. :D

Internationally I've been pulled up on every trip since last August to provide an eticket/intinary at check in. Once they wouldn't check me in without a copy and sent me to ticketing to get a copy.
Been there as well. Now I just carry a copy of the itinerary if they need to see it.

The best look from the CSA is when they see my return flight is not on the same itinerary as the outbound flight. ;)

Domestically there's no issue.

Narita also was close to denying entry as I couldn't prove when I was leaving the country (was overnighting in transit). $20 in data charges later, they accepted sighting of the booking on qantas.com on my mobile.

Before mid last year it was never a problem to not carry any proof, but now I don't leave without it.

Yes, on my most recent departure from Oz on 1 Feb I was made to pull out my e-ticket itinerary at CNS. I expressed surprise at being asked (seeing as it's all on one booking). Was told it should have always been asked for.

That said - in 2010, 4 international departures from CNS and was never asked.

8 entries to the US and 7 to Canada in the last year and got asked for the itinerary once. And that was the first time in 11 years.

For the record - I always carry my itinerary when traveling internationally.

I've been told off for doing something similar. A group of young and very professional people (none of those douche bag types) were going in, but there wasn't enough guest spots, and the dragon refused with great joy. They were only short by 1.

I was behind them, so I offered to guest that one in. I was told bluntly I couldn't do that, because I didn't know them beforehand, and therefore would be abusing my benefit. I couldn't be bothered arguing with him, so I said to the group I tried to help, but he's having great joy in saying 'no' to people today.

I probably would have pushed the issue personally. The rules say 'guest' not 'must know'. Sounds like the lounge dragon had run out of bread to toast and felt you were in need of a toasting!

Cannot help but wonder if it was the same customer service centric dragon from Ozfest in Sydney a few years ago, he should be working at the Albion post office or better still, Zillmere motor registry, he would fit in well.

Just as an update; I could not make the J Lounge this morning as I had to head to the Office for a last minute team meeting. I tried to get out of it but no deal.

In my place though, I have just sent the girlfriend down to the J Lounge (she's also a WP) with her friend, so hopefully they won't hold the line too long ;)

What total rubbish. There is nowhere in the terms and conditions that mentions the 'guest must be known to member'.

Personally I would have pushed the issue and not let them get away with it.

Out of curiousity, has anyone noticed any significant difference in lounge occupancy since the change came in? My first flight since the change is not until next week so I have had no opportunity to judge for myself.

I don't know, I probably could have pushed the issue, but I couldn't be bothered that day. He also threatened to deny me entry too. Anyway, I just think he's on a power trip that day.

I don't if that's the same guy as the infamous OzFest incident, but my case wasn't in SYD.

More crowded for me as I've had guests 2 out of the 3 times I've visited since 1 Feb. ;)

From my experience BNE and SYD lounges have been extremely quiet in January and February.
