Another entry into domestic lounge with a wave of the card. This time SYD J lounge. :)

My first view of the hot breakfast too. (I say view because it looked absolutely disgusting)

When I went to the desk to have a new boarding card printed (I had a BA one that had failed to work twice already in the domestic transfer process) the very nice lady behind the desk told me that I could just use my card!! So QF appears to be informing staff at last.

Not all ports can use the card, CNS is one of them where it does not work.

ADL is another IMO. The card did work but it hasn't worked the last 3 times I tried to use it. Not sure what happened, but they have started work in the terminal, so I guess full NGCI isn't that far away.

Everyone thought it and nobody is posting, so I will...

RR: In general some changes are good (newer fittings, better seating, new menu that nobody can pronounce), but they are brought down by two massive white elephant in the room: party pie removal and no anytime access.

I think the party pies have left the building protesting the removal of ATA! :p

Trippin, for a minute I though you were inferring that lounge dragons were now called white elephants!

Well seems that the message is getting through- was asked to scan my card at PER last week- will see what happens next time!

Also, they have this great pancake maker in the PER Lounge- not sure if it's a novelty, or if in any other lounges.

Has anyone had any experience with (i) having to scan the Platinum card when you're travelling on JQ (I'm assuming they won't register if it's a Jetsaver fare) and (ii) using 'same day' access when it's actually the next day (ie. overnight flight)?

I'm flying PER-SYD tonight with JQ, arriving 6am tomorrow. I plan to go over to T3 for breakfast (with two friends) and I'm wondering how it will go.

A flash of the WP card still seems to work in the T3 j lounge at SYD. I'd try that first and then get into details if challenged.

My two friends and I got to the PER lounge in advance of JQ check-in opening so we left our bags in the car and proceeded to the lounge. I scanned my card at the lounge check-in and the machine flashed green. But then the agent asked me if I was travelling. I thought the green light meant "Thank you. Please proceed to the bar or nine salad buffet" but apparently not.

In SYD the following morning, our flight arrived directly opposite the lounge in T2 so we stopped in for an OJ. I showed my card to the lounge agent and she asked if I was travelling. I said we'd just arrived off the JQ flight from PER and she was satisfied; no additional checking. Over in T3, it was the apparently usual story: politely flash your WP card and be welcomed in.

.

I would assume if looks for an onward booking within 24hrs, not so much if you've checked in for a flight.

Who knows, the system may be smater than you think. ;)

are you sure they didn't just not look closely and assumed it was your WP card?

I'm guessing that she wasn't really paying attention.. my WP card and Amex plat are two different colours. In fact the plat looks more like QFF Silver cards! I still thought it was funny!

Any chance that the dragon just remembers your face and knows you are WP?

I will give it a try myself at the SYD J lounge this week. Who knows, it may be an Amex enhancement.

I wonder when the scanners will come in to the Melbourne lounges? We got through yesterday just by flashing the WP cards with no questions asked. Might be once all the terminal renovations are complete, but we'll see I guess.

Also, are they building a direct access to the Melbourne lounge from the check in area or something? I hadn't been to T1 for a while and was still surprised to see half the terminal still barricaded up.

Only other places I have seen those pancake makers have been at hotel breakfast buffets in Hong Kong and Japan!

The SYD T1 Intl J lounge has one as well at least it did the last time I was in there (mid last year).
