Platinum - I've finally made it!!!

Well my status clicked over a few hours after I landed on Thursday night. Immediately noticed the much better seating selection for my upcoming flights!

Now to see how long the new card and tags take to arrive!

The first thing I relished in WP benefits was calling QF.

A few levels of phone tree cut down, and it was answered immediately! :)

Almost the same level of service I get as a Corp QP member. Phone calls are answered within 90sec, often much less - regardless of the QF area i'm calling.

I noticed this as well. I checked my seat availability for my J class trip to SIN in Jan and noticed that the front J cabin was now open. I've picked a nice seat there in row 12 and am hoping that the A380 is flying.

I am hoping my new card and tags arrive by 23 Dec when I make the Xmas trip to MEL.

Funnily enough this is the one thing that almost seems to have gotten worse. I've had one experience where I gave up after about 10 minutes and no response. My other two calls have taken 3-4 minutes where previously I've gotten through in 60-90 seconds as an SG.

My call was about a fairly complex matter where the QF flight booked by the work TA firstly wasn't showing (they have previously) on my account. Then when it was attached manually I wasn't able to select my seat. I made a call early this morning and was told that it was because a DJ flight was on the booking. Never had a problem with this previously. An unhappy call centre person said they would try and reserve my desired seat selection.

Hey nick - congrats. I know I already congratulated you externally, but I thought i would make it more public as well. I won't need to guest you into the J-Lounge at next year's Steam train ride now! ;)

Well I thought I would add to my thread. Last night I flew back from PER and clocked over the 2100 mark for Partner Gold!

12 month ago that was something I hadn't even thought of or something that was even possible!

After a phone call to QF this morning to get my SC posted, the very helpful operator set it up on the phone for me.

I saw this now, that i cannot see myself getting 2400sc's next year, however i shouldn't talk too soon!

Another feather in your cap! well done.

Not surprised you clocked over (after seeing the berzillion check-ins you've had on FB recently although some of the airports you've been to i'd rather pass on ;))

I can't see myself making PG. There's no point; I've got no 'P' to gift the 'G' to (my parents fly QF once a year to come visit me so it seems pointless, and most my friends are already SG or above anyway!).

Oh c'mon, what's wrong with Albany and Kalgoorlie????

I had already booked two JASA's for a trip that would get me to WP. Then I ended up with more work trips, so this became the PG flight.

KGI is not a place I tend to want to go to. Last time I was there, the Hainault gold mine was still open as a tourist destination ;)

Albany is great, but half the fun is driving there via Augusta. Some of the most beautiful country in the world I think (but i'm biased, i'm from PER originally and spent a lot of my childhood around Busselton/Dunsborough during my holidays with family; explains my love for good red wine!).

Hi All,

Not sure if this belongs here but tried searching in the forum, unsuccessfully..

I am SG with just over 1300 Status Credits.. my anniversary in Feb 11, but I have no major travel plans coming up.. Just maybe 1 or most 2 trips SYD-MEL-SYD..

So I reckon, I may finish @ 1380

Does anyone has experience in making WP with 20 Status Credits short? or is it strictly 1400?

PS: Infact I had made this many Status by Oct End (after my US trip).. but due to work and personal reasons.. have had no travels in Nov and Dec... But anyways.. that's not Qantas problem !! ;-)

In short - No. They won't comp you up.. However 20SC's is only a MEL-SYD trip on a red edeal. $170 is worth it in my opinion.

The 1400 SCs is strictly enforced to attain Platinum.

Once you are Platinum though there is no reason you cannot be comped Platinum the year after with 200 SCs or even 0 SCs....

I have made it to WP on paper!!
I made it yesterday 23/1 on a JASA seat BNE-MEL-BNE but its recorded on my account as 0 and 0 :(. I know QF have had issues with JASA. My last one took 10 days to amended, the flights were taken on 2/1 but adjusted on the 12/1. My worry is that QF will do the adjustment AFTER my anniversary which is the 31/1. If it happens AFTER that date I will call up and get it adjusted so I can be WP, QF will adjusted wont they? Back date it to the flight date?
