you know what the biggest problem with WP is? Not having it when you stop flying so much ><... i'm dreading the day I lose my status...

Would be intersting to know how many Platinum members Qantas have? And Gold etc..anybody any ideas :?:
Agree with you - interesting to know especially how many Platinums?
+2 Would be interesting to find out.
This thread is 5 years old, but may give a clue.

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....flyer-program/number-of-qff-members-6134.html

Note it pre-dates the EDR tie-up so the total number of registered FFers has increased dramatically. This may not have affected the number of WP however.

mmmm not that exclusive really. Anyone know how many LTG's?

You're still looking at sub-1% numbers. That's pretty low (just from the FF pool of NB-WP, not counting the Non-FF'ers, which seem to be numerous based on my casual observations of no-FF information on BP's).

That 60K figure included CL.

Note 5 years ago there were around 4½M QFF members

No your not looking at sub 1%, at least not since Air has been circulated, it goes to the top 1% of QFF and not all WPs get it. It was greater than 1% when that 60K number was circulated 5 years ago.

60000 out of 4.5 mil is 1.3%. 1.3% of 7mil is about 90000
Is 7M the amount of current QFF members?

I'd be interest to hear if people think the ratio of Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum has stayed the same during this growth.

My uninformed opinion is that the bottom end may have fattened out quite a bit and that the % of Platinum members has gone down to around 1% or less. A lot of these new members would be from credit card & retail partnerships, no?

This would be my opinion as well. I'd also suggest that one result of the free sign up and bonuses through EDR, is that there are also a lot of cats, dogs and fish that are now members

I'm pretty sure that was the headline figure that QFF hit recently. My uninformed opinion agrees with your uninformed opinion. I guess 90000 or 100000 is an estimate of the upper bound. As already mentioned the CC strategy and EDR would have greatly expanded the bottom end. Maybe that is why silver qualification was reduced.

Thewinchester recently mentioned that he had heard the next generation check in roll out was sending 20000 packs per week. IIRC. Assuming that the roll out is going for 6 months that would be about 500000 packs. Suggesting 500000 of PS or above.

As of last year, Qantas hit 7.2 million FF members. It was in their annual report, but I don't think they publish any breakdown by tier.

JOBU

I get to finally claim that I've made it as well :)

300 SC's from SFO-LAX-SEA-LAX-SFO in F on AA/AS
140 SC's from a JASA
Everything else is Y, 2 international trips and the remainder domestic.

Thanks for the tips, would've probably been just short by next month if I continued to fly Y domestically only.

Gave myself a ODU on a BNE-MEL flight on Friday, and had to circle for an extra hour due to severe weather at MEL that night so it became a 3 hour flight in J!

Need to take into consideration that the majority of additions to QFF in the last few years have been through EveryDay Rewards.

I believe the number of Platinums (and CLs) has not changed that much in those 5 years (certainly not by 50%) and the percentage of Platinums/QFFers would of course be a lot lower now. Much closer to 1%.

There are not a lot of status flyers around as some people seem to think. The figure of ~12% of QFFers (mentioned in another thread) holding status (Silver, Gold, Platinum, CL) would be close to the mark. I remember one time as a Gold flew SYD-HBA and apart from a few Silver and Qantas Club members I was the highest status on board.

And yes the CSM was going through the manifest while talking to me.

I agree that the numbers at the top would not have changed much, due to the EDR partnership increasing the number of spenders. IMO that is the reason that the silver qualification requirements were lowered, so that the percentage of members with status could be increased, perhaps towards an industry average. Call me cynical but if one wanted to sell off a frequent flyer program I would have thought you'd want it to look like you have a normal percentage of members who are actually flying.

Unless of course, silver is on the way out.
