Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I thought the 2700 SC requirement was always on QF flight numbers and nothing else? Meaning that JQ has never counted toward the 2700.
You might be getting the 4 ~ segment requirement mixed up..

I've never paid attention before because I try not to fly JQ and always easily requalified on QF alone. With being unable to fly QF so far in this membership year and no prospects for months more, I thought I'd take some JQ flights in NZ towards requal. I now see it is only good for the 4 squiggles, the 900 SCs that doesn't need to be on QF, and towards LTP.

Of course, the way things are going it is risky to book JQ on domestic flights in NZ. They won't operate except at level one. Can drop out of level one with no notice.

Interesting, I've just had a look and you're right that the 2,700 states that is has to be a qantas marketed flight and 'Qantas marketed flights are flights with a Qantas [QF] flight number on the ticket'.

The 2,700 status boost that I've received so far this year (1,800 plus 900 for Apr - Aug) have counted towards the QF requirement so now I only have to earn 900 more somehow....

Your 2,700 status boost should all be recorded as being QF thus your remaining 900 SCs can be from any source.

@nutwood thanks for the response however my post was more directed at @travellerqff who made the statement that “platinum one team doesn’t exist anymore”. In re-reading my post I see it may have been misinterpreted. I was pretty confident that SST was still in existence as they seemed to assist in getting some refunds processed after waiting the 10 weeks and still no refund in sight.

I guess it was a misinformed premium line operator

I would have expected downgraded to only work weekdays and maybe a few less staff.. maybe existing staff having reduced hours or something.. a real shame if totally let go. Obviously very few P1's would be flying (though I do know of at least one who has recently - alas not me!) but while perhaps not a total surprise it is disappointing to hear.

So what give you the impression this is the case? curious.

Sad and disappointing :( But if AJ is willing to retrench thousands including the International CEO (which sends a very strong signal - no one is immune), I'm not surprised when the SST and any other drawcards to P1 are canned.

If domestic and international borders don't open anytime soon (say within the next one year), QF will be no more and AJ might have to retrench himself ;)

I'm curious to know if anyone here has a plan that will see them being P1 in the future?
I was musing on this as my year re-commences at the end of this month. I'm fairly sure that my target is only 1800 SC's, which, even with only domestic travel, I could manage quite readily. The problem for me though is not lack of travel, it's lack of flights.
A recent trip had me visiting Adelaide, Wagga, Sydney and Balina. Pre-Covid this would have been Lst-Mel-Adl-Mel-Cbr-Syd-Ool-Syd-Mel-Lst. Nine legs, all booked Flex and 180 SC's. Depending on the timing, it could have been 360 SC's. In this new Covid reality, I took two Jetstar flights and drove the rest. Even with Max bundles; 40 SC's (and nearly 4000 kms driving!). There was no other way to do it. I like the reduced costs, hate the increased risks, but there's little choice.
Is there anyone, apart from possibly politicians, who is going to be able to find sufficient flying to get over the line?

Unless restrictions come off in the next few months, I don't think there will be any P1s come 2022. I think the cutoff will be 1 March 2022 (as some existing P1s had the comp until end of Feb 2022).

And I'd seriously question the point of P1 unless things change. At the moment there's very little difference between a Qantas Club member and a Platinum (or a P1)!

Unless restrictions come off in the next few months

..or Qantas extend the status support program, which seems likely. Once borders start to reopen Qantas will rely heavily on well heeled corporate flyers and road warriors to help them recover. Letting their status lapse seems illogical.

They will want their regulars to have a reason to return . If they let the incentives go people might look elsewhere. Though having said that such domestic isn't going to have much choice

Personally I am not even thinking about P1 (or any status really). Seems irrelevant when there's zero travel options (for me anyway) anytime soon. That's just my personal situation and view. Far more important things to think about imo.

Now as above I think it's certain the StatusKeeper payments will be extended, at least six months, so that will keep many of us going and they may even just blanket extend again (though I think the Boost/Keeper payments is the better solution to address inequalities for some members as oft discussed).

And well if there's little or no P1 team that's actually going to be a disincentive to even bother about it except for essential travel. Now sure, no doubt the program will be restarted when things restart more normally (or heck QF may take the opportunity to "retool" the program - I don't want to use the "e" word!)

And remember at the very least any current P1's have a soft landing to Platinum through at least 2022 for most of us and into 2023 for some, so it's not like we lose everything.

my 3 cents

It looks like the P1 SST has been either partially or fully let go. That said, this has been somewhat on the cards even pre-covid as there had been talk of the role being consolidated into the HBA call centre.

Just to add to this, I've been in touch with Qantas and they tell me they're planning to replace the SST with a new "VIP Service Team" based at the Hobart call centre which will look after P1 and Chairman's Lounge members. This is due to open in late 2020.

Qantas says that the change is due to "feedback from members".

Did CL members previously have access to SST?

I wonder if the "feedback from members" is CLs complaining about the level of service offered by the Qantas Premium phone line. 😂

I reckon that QF will take the opportunity to 'review and enhance' CL membership during the stand down.

Given it is a personal gift from AJ there is probably no better time to determine the value of all members.

APS SES B2 and Military 2* could probably be excluded to begin with.

State based pollies should be looked at carefully.

Celebrities who don't pay tax in Australia.

I'm sure we could cull the list of CL members quite severely.

It's standard for Band 3s but I didn't think band 2s. They should all go. I can't see VA continuing to try and match perks for such folk so you'd think QF will be pretty safe doing a decent cull (and not just public servants).

oh the old "Due to customer feedback" coverall for whatever they want. What a croc

cost cutting it is. And in the time of Covid with hardly anyone flying it makes some sense to stand them down, or as I suggested earlier, cut hours of existing members/only offer limited hours etc (what's the point of being on call overnight when there's no P1's flying ex UK/USA etc?) but to cut it totally and then to move to create a CL/P1 subset of HBA res? so in other words some agents who likely have more training, or even just taking the most senior/experienced people to take those calls as priority rather than specifically dedicated.

The obvious flow on effects are to be likely

- limited or no more event invitations/offers
- probably no end of year gift, or if anything something lame like a "free" bottle of $20 plonk from QF wine or a year's free subscription to Sendle.
- no proactive monitoring of members flights as in cancels etc
- no P1 comp upgrades

Remember the SST/P1 program was more or less a tool of marketing rather than reservations or even QFF per se... so that's obviously been dropped from them.

I can see all of these a reality making P1 a mockery of the mockery that it was already.

my 2 cents.
