I'm still planning to fly to the you US in 48 days time and spend 3 months there. Qantas hasn't cancelled my flights. Marriott hasn't cancelled my rooms. And I haven't cancelled my car booking with hertz. So international flights must be resuming soon!
I'm not concerned by that. I'm aware of the risk. I'm prepared to accept that risk and want to travel. The virus does not seem to be abating across a lot of America.

Still a glimmer of hope!
Need to read it all ... 'but exemptions will be made...'“National Cabinet noted that the Governor-General extended the human biosecurity emergency period for three months from 17 June 2020 to 17 September 2020.”
It’s the bio security emergency period that has us stuck in Australia.

more cash flow associated with Business travellers I presume?
I’m guessing the context is economy driven rather than reward for service. It does seem a bit unfair. Happy to sit at home in the luxury afforded by isolation, but the first in line for a fun overseas trip for 'business'? Bit of a tough sell for the hard working nurses, fire fighters, paramedics, teachers, bus and train drivers...

Who knows what sort of "business traveller" is being referred to? It's a pretty wide, encompassing term. There are an infinite sort of business travels, some reasons could be considered trivial, whilst others could be important for a range of reason. In my experience, though, the vast majority of business travel I've been on could not be characterised as "fun" . If "fun overseas trip" is what most business travel is all about, maybe I've been in the wrong type of jobs for way too long!
Australia’s international travel ban extended to mid-September - Travel Weekly
The ban on Australians travelling overseas has been extended by a further three months, but an exemption will be made for the trans-Tasman ‘bubble’.www.travelweekly.com.au
Interestingly, Singapore have just announced that citizens and permanent residents arriving back into Singapore who had spent the previous 14 days in a select group of countries* can serve out their 14 day “stay at home notice” (SHN) at their own homes instead of at a dedicated facility (hotel). All returnees will also be tested, at their own expense, towards the end of the 14 day SHN period.
Could be a good model for Australia to follow.
Personally, we stand to save $2k each - the cost of a room at a dedicated facility for 14 days (as a same sex couple probably would have to stay in separate rooms).
* these include Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, China, NZ, Taiwan, South Korea and Vietnam.
your travel is essential for the conduct of critical industries and business (including export and import industries)
