Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Why wait so long?
with hundreds of positives already in community why don't open SYD for unlimited international arrivals right now?
Well I would certainly personally be happy with that, but having waited so long and missed so many important things already, I guess I can wait now for 80% +3 weeks. Which on current rates seems to be around December 2021. Not keen on waiting longer though, and my personal campaign of civil disobedience will begin on 1 January 2022.

More likely to catch it in Australia than overseas now.
Seriously, Australia has about 1000 cases a day, UK has about 30K, the US a seven day average of over 100K. I'm in favour of opening up soon but disinformation is not going to help.

The point being that we currently have just a trickle of people coming in from many locations overseas, not 30,000 in one hit from the UK. And 800 in NSW every day.

The SA home quarantine trial started today for people they'd normally put into med hotels.

What does worry me is that I am worried we will ever get to 80%? I know this is probably hard to validate, but I have read that the numbers of deniers, and the anti-vaxers, add up to over 20%.

Now that the Prime Minister is saying that there will be enough vaccines for everyone by October, I wonder why he cannot state a date that borders will open? Make the date something that would enable all people who have been hesitant to have time to do so, but would allow families who want to travel for Christmas to do so.

How about 10 December?

At some point they will set a date, but not yet. It won't be before there's no supply problems with any of the three vaccines AZ, Pfizer and Moderna. The message needs to be you can get an appointment to get vaccinated today with whichever vaccine you want, so go out and get it, because we're opening up on X December.

Gladys was again saying about forgetting case numbers and living with the virus like the flu. She also went on about how we are at the moment only one of a very few countries isolated to the rest of the world and we have to learn to accept the high member of cases.

The COVID outbreak has brought forward international travel a long way since no more 'letting COVID in' and 'how we are living like no other countries and not going to jeopardize Australia's lifestyle with letting international arrivals in'.

It looks like the federal election will not be the deciding factor now in opening up borders.

Amazing how one LIMO driver has brought forward international travel by months! Thanks again NSW for not locking down hard and eliminating it again!

How many people have died in NSW since July, including a 16yo boy? Yay NSW!

Incredibly poor taste to be celebrating an outbreak claiming the lives of people daily.

I don't think anyone takes pleasure in people dying, but at some point we have to face the reality that unless there's a new variant far more infectious than Delta and far less deadly that rips through the worldwide population we're going to be living with COVID-19 for years to come and we have to start learning to live with it in the community and get on with our lives which includes easing international travel restrictions.

If there wasn't the outbreak in NSW it was only a matter of time before an outbreak happened elsewhere. Most of the deaths in Sydney have been people who should have been vaccinated already, but weren't. We can only protect those that won't protect themselves with closed borders for so long.

I agree with this. However, a date needs to be set. If and when they reach somewhere between 50 - 70%, a date needs to be set with the knowledge that the supply is in the country and they KNOW that there is nothing stopping hitting 80% from a supply perspective.

Am I optimistic about that being the case however......no.

Do people really think the international borders will open for Christmas 21? I don’t think so. I think all efforts will be focused on getting state borders open. No political gain to be made by opening them up this year.

They will introduce some sticks to get a lot of them across the line don’t worry.

Honestly I see at the coal face the rush of anti vaxxers lining up their kids for jabs when they realise the financial and lifestyle (no jab no play) penalties they are about to incur.

You would be amazed how quickly alot of anti vaxxers chuck alot of their ‘beliefs’ out the window when there is a big financial penalty.

The government simply needs to put a few big sticks in place and we will EASILY get there.

I expect they will announce these in the next month or so - will have to be soonish!

A few Premiers will disregard the ad as dangerous and nonsense, and their constituents want to be kept safe at all costs.
