Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Nope, even the quarantine arrangements are archaic compared to non-AU.

7 days is right on par with Singapore and with let it rip Dom now at the helm, that is likely to become test negative and release come Dec 1.

I wonder if the duty free shops will start selling 14 day sustinance packages.. They could fill a samsonite case with 14 bottles of wine, a few jumbo toblerones, mixed nuts, shortbread and werther's originals.
I've seen jumbo Toblerones in Coles. Usually only see them in the airport-wonder if Duty Free has been offloading.
Looking forward to buying one in its natural environment

Coles seem to have been buying up quite a few items from places we have been locked out of, they have also had the choc-tops that you usually get at Event Cinemas (sold individually).

He was never a fan of lockdowns....I wonder how much of this was agreed to by the CHO. Wouldn't surprise me if this all goes pear shape in terms of hospitalisations and deaths that the CHO may resign....

We elect the politicians to make decisions not unelected bureaucrats. Unelected bureaucrats are employed to advise, but ultimately the politicians should be considering a range of factors such as mental health, impact on the economy etc. as well as the physical health situation.

Ending restrictions and resuming things like international travel is important for people's mental health. Mental health has been mostly ignored by politicians for far too long. Throwing a few million to deal with the symptoms of a mental health problem they've caused doesn't deal with the root cause.

If international travel to/from SYD could be brought forward to the start of November that would be fantastic.

Mental health has been completely ignored by "health officials" too. In fact, some of these health officials have ignored everything apart from COVID-19. It's almost as if we have no other medical issues whatsoever.

could not agree more! that horrible CHO not so Young in Queensland could not give two hoots about mental health! It's all fear mongering and scare tactics, we need the borders open for many reasons mental health being pretty high on the list.

There seems to be a concerted effort in the media to scare people about NSW opening up.

Andrew Clennell, who has reliable sources, said the matters were discussed methodically and calmly at the meeting and the CHO explained the level of risk for each potential change. It was then the elected officials who made the decision on what would be accepted and what would not.

Whilst possibly she would prefer the government take fewer risks, framing it like she fought it tooth and nail and then refused to front the presser is just not how it (allegedly) went down.

The facts are the cases are lower now then they expected them to be, the vaccination rate is higher, the hospitalisation and ICU rates are much lower and on a downward trend.

I feel the media is sensing the end of the golden goose that was Covid-19 and now they're working out how to fill their programming schedules without the free content and endless expert "epidemiologists" to interview.

International travel looks pretty good for NSW right now.

Yep. ABC rolled out their usual fear mongerers today. I suspect these people realise their 15 minutes are coming to an end….

Obviously the CHO is not going to be loving greater freedoms. The same way your doctor doesn’t give you a pat on the back when you tell them you powered through two bottles of wine on Friday night. Her job is health and health alone. As the premier said, this is an economic crisis as well. Given how the claimed “overrunning” of the health system didn’t even come close to happening, I think we can safely say that the economy must now come first.

So we are opening up in NSW on Monday

USA - 64% one dose (55%full)
EU - 67% one dose (63%full)
UK - 72% one dose (66%full)

NSW (as of today) - 74.5% one dose (56%full)

We have more restrictions on Monday than any of these places right now.
Let’s take a breath and give it a chance.

For example, but not limited to, the correlation between financial position and health outcomes. Making people lose everything to stop one specific disease will result in worse outcomes…

The “breath” seems to be the problem for a respiratory virus.

Always makes me laugh when a journalist says that “we are holding our breath for the latest case numbers” I didn’t realise they were personally trying to stop the spread…

Reply email from Vietnam Airlines today

''We haven't had the schedule for November due to the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will soon extensively inform passengers on the resumption of operations of the flights upon receiving further directions from the competent authorities.''

Competent? Really???
