Tourism operators smashed by the pandemic have been offered a glimmer of hope, with the Prime Minister declaring he expects international borders to fully reopen before Easter.
The risk of being infected prior to leaving can now be managed with travel insurance as most of them have provisions for refunds if you or a travelling companion are positive. I'm not so sure whether that also covers isolation. And again, from review of a few mainstream policies, you can insure for costs of getting ill whilst away (refunds, extra accommodation etc, up to a point).
Though important to note here that if you get everything documented, you should be able to claim the time you were sick as sick leave and have your annual leave reimbursed. Though obviously you would need sufficient sick leave as you say.
