This would be nice for you guys if EU countries take it on board.

Agreed, although an EU Digital COVID certificate will become imperative.

Lets hope the reciprocity gets sorted out.

PM indicating the possibility of incoming international tourists well before Easter.

Step in the right direction but surely there should be EU agreement for certification recognition before this happens?

The main risk I see is that of being infected just prior to travelling or during the trip.
The risk of being infected prior to leaving can now be managed with travel insurance as most of them have provisions for refunds if you or a travelling companion are positive. I'm not so sure whether that also covers isolation. And again, from review of a few mainstream policies, you can insure for costs of getting ill whilst away (refunds, extra accommodation etc, up to a point).

What you can't insure for is being stuck somewhere because of government action - like borders slamming shut or traveller caps. I am hopeful that those things are in the past here at least.

You also would have to have sufficient leave to cover an unexpected extended absence from work if you got sick whilst away.

But overall, your financial position might not be too bad if you did get infected just before or during the trip.

Though important to note here that if you get everything documented, you should be able to claim the time you were sick as sick leave and have your annual leave reimbursed. Though obviously you would need sufficient sick leave as you say.

Also if you are someone who can usually WFH you can likely work remotely from your ISO as very few people who get covid actually experience significant symptoms. Just make sure you have your VPN details with you.

So current Australian requirements are a test 3 days prior if PCR. So departure Thursday afternoon means a test Tuesday?

I wondered that. It's tricky what the authorities count as a day.
So many countries you need to just find the precise words.......

eg US 1 day before - means the day before or same day.

eg 72 hours means time based on scheduled departure.

Edit: "within 3 days before the day of the flight's scheduled departure" - Monday

from Fiji "96 hours" ...

And the other timeframe variables, I’ve been faced with all of these
xx time before arrival in country
xx time before departure of the flight to the country
xx time before departure of the first flight in the itinerary
and I don’t think this is exhaustive.
