Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

That's not possible because the EU countries don't even follow the EU.

I think fully jabbed need to be allowed to travel freely with no testing. Until testing and quarantine are still lingering, travel will never come back to anywhere near what it was.
I meant in terms of vaccination. I'm pretty sure everyone has adopted that double dose expires after 270 days and booster certificate has no expiry

Nope - some countries want 180 days, some 270 days, some 5 months, some 7 months.

Travel will continue to really struggle when even the EU can't get their member states to follow a standardised policy.

Ah, I stand corrected then. Thanks for the info

If you can keep up with it all, then you’re some kind of superhuman. And that’s why many are placing travel in the too hard basket.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had an amazing two weeks in Cape Town. The pandemic is as good as over. Given the headstart they had here, hopefully that means the rest of the realistic world isn’t too far behind.

On the plus side, at least testing is fairly easy in most places now. I’ve just done my PCR for return from South Africa. 500ZAR ($45) at a drive through and was out in 10 mins. RAT was about $25 but the Singaporeans aren’t happy with it.

Did the negative certificate contain everything you need, including a signature? I’m concerned that when I do the test on day I come home from US, that the certificate will fall sort and I’ll be stuck with little notice. Companies won’t provide a sample to confirm.

I believe it would have. The PCR is fine and the RAT would have been the same with the exception being the testing method box changed. I think if you go anywhere that does PCRs then a RAT from them will be fine. I nearly did the RAT but I checked at the last minute and figured out that Singapore only accepts them from select destinations.

Apparently the main topic on the agenda at tomorrow’s Nat Cab.
If the Feds backflip and make 3 doses a requisite to enter Australia they may aswell wind up tourism on the spot.

Why do we even care as long as Australians have good vaccination coverage?

This is also why I don't get the obsession with pre-flight testing....

Difference appears to be NSW does not care as much about fully vaccinated check ins to access venues.
It doesn’t care at all. It’s no longer a requirement.

From my experience last weekend most pubs aren’t even policing check in now now they don’t have to worry about vaccinations.

Even being based in the UK it is very hard to keep up. The real issue is when the media and supposedly 'reliable' travel sources in the media and social media publish big headlines saying the EU is making travel easier or they've agreed on something etc. You often find the EU has agreed on something, however, most of their member states won't even follow it. It's definitely been happening for well over 18 months now.

Don’t be. I know the Aust requirements are absurdly exacting but every post covid trip I’ve done I got a test certificate that didn’t comply. Mostly just checkin people and the various in transit document scrutineers look at them. There are nearly 200 countries and probably as many different sets of requirements for certificate so you can bet that checkin people won’t be across the intricacies of Australia’s requirement beyond ‘need a test certificate’ and the time frames.

I found the Federal Health department’s notion that the rest of the world would dance precisely to its tune, um, quaint.

Cheers skip

Indeed, I do a check when I book, I check again at T-72 and then finally again at T-24. I have had things change at T-12 so probably a little bit more concerned than most about re-checking. You're not always going to get (nearly) caught out like that as things mature a little more :)

According to ABC online the pre flight testing is still required.

Tick tock tick tock.... they can't do everything at once I suppose or the Doona Brigade might have a heart attack and clog up the hospitals.
Not a bad strategy. I suspect the requirement will just be deleted and no announcement.

SA Health just posted this on their FB. Not gone yet

The French government has announced that the requirement of Covid-19 testing to enter the country will be dropped shortly for travelers who are fully vaccinated.

The testing was brought in during December to combat the Omicron variant of Covid-19 for all travelers entering from outside the EU (including the U.K.). However, Europe Minister Clément Beaune told France 2 TV that “in the coming days we will announce that tests are no longer needed for vaccinated people.”

Beaune also said that there are likely to be new EU travel rules announced this week, saying “there will probably be a new European protocol for vaccinated people arriving from outside the EU, with eased measure”

I would like to know if Qantas are ever going to start flying from Wellington, New Zealand?
