Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I just arrived back in BNE last night after 2 amazing weeks in Turkey. I used the new online health declaration form for vax and negative PCR test, but oddly enough I was never asked to show it. Not at SQ check in, not at Australian passport control. It was almost like a normal arrival.

I am supposed to take a RAT within 24 hours. I have the home RATs but I don't know if that is acceptable or do I have to go to a test centre? Or do a home RAT on video? How do I document that I did it?

You don’t document or prove it. Just do it if you feel it’s appropriate

Thanks. I brought RATs with me and tested myself every 3 days. I could only find pre-flight PCR tests in the city at 450 TL to have them come to your hotel. Which is probably not too different from paying a taxi to take you to a place where they are 250 TL. I want to follow the rules because it was people who didn't follow the rules that messed everything up and caused hotel quarantine to happen.

Interesting but unsurprising article in today's (4/3) AFR

VA saying aside from strong bookings over Easter, current demand is not enough to sustain them.

The test before international flying needs to go in the bin ASAP. Most won't risk it and who could blame them.

I won't (for leisure) although I am travelling internationally for work and don't care if I get snared that way because work will pay :-)

I have booked flights for a medical conference in Lyon in May. I'm surprised how many of my colleagues feel I'm being brave (Referencing both Covid and Ukraine).
Ps: happy it looks like I won't have to go through the French vaccine cert rigmarole as it's due to stop later this month

France has announced a suspension of its Pass Sanitaire from 14 March. So no longer any need to pay a pharmac_ to translate your Australian vaccine cert for those travelling there for the next little while, yay.

Not sure if that means they will suspend the pharmac_ service altogether so that people who might require the service for visits to other EU countries will have to come up with another solution.

Yes good news on visiting France as my next international trip is UK and France in June to August..

But yes bad news in that it may make visiting some other Countries more difficult if you still need the EU Vaccine Pass to enter them, as for some to get it after arriving is problematic.

Hopefully by the time of my second Europe planned trip this year in Sep to Nov the requirement will be long gone everywhere as I like to have the freedom of being to jump borders on impulse. Or failing that, that the Feds lift there game and get the Oz Certification accepted by itself.

current demand is not enough to sustain them.
coming QF has Mon Tue Wed flights BNE to PER in 900$ minimum. Mon only J available for 3700$
An they still flying B737. Why not add additional 330 services??

The Maldives getting rid of testing for vaccinated travellers.

Hawaii now no restrictions on entry.

I'm not surprised, as your colleagues' reaction is typical of the community as a whole.

Compliant, scared and believing that to lay under a sheet in one's bedroom is vastly preferable to living life.

Ukraine has accentuated this. It'll be interesting to see whether Oz-European and UK bookings decrease or plummet.

I'm in the same boat - heading to Europe in 2 weeks and all the fear mongers, work mates and even my boss think I'm brave to plan such a big trip. I do plan to go to Lithuania which I'm seeing what happens ....

Interesting stats quoted on who got refunds and who got credit vouchers especially given the problems using the vouchers. Irregular travellers definitely have problems understanding why they might have to pay more for the same flight at a later date forgetting it’s not a flight voucher and flight prices vary enormously.

I suspect people feeling ‘burned’ by this will impact bookings for a very long time.
