How is it possible to test negative but still be diagnosed with Covid? Issue with the tests? Possibly long covid from a previous infection?

It is possible that the disease is not covid as the symptoms can certainly be due to other diseases.
The false negative rate of PCR testing is low.Repeated testing should get the right answer.Here is a study from Canada showing that of a 100,000 tests 49 were initially negative when covid was suspected.46 were positive on the second test and 3 on the third test.None needed a 4th test.

She's a health care professional (as am i) and she said the DRs are seeing around 20- 25% testing negative. They (the consultants, she has seen 4) are assuming (not really sure) that maybe the vaccines have an effect on the mucous linings of the nose and throat. She is on a covid ward and has been told several there are testing negative. She has covid lung (Covid pneumonitis ) CT and xray confirmed, raised d-dimer(4000), raised crp (3000), she has had a lumbar puncture and is awaiting a MRV scan to rule out thrombosis to the head. As we all know what we see if practice doesn't always equates to what happens in studies, ALSO she is vaccinated, the study posted was completed in the first four months of covid early 2020 before vaccines. She is 44 with no comorbidities. Her disease has followed the typical course. She has had the works and they have ruled everything else out!

That's an incredibly high false negative rate.
I doubt there story on the mucous linings of the nose and throat because the vaccines are given parenterally antibodies are not in the mucous which is why vaccinated people can catch covid as that is where it enters.
My thought would be defective tests for some reason.

If the rumours that VIC won't allow interstate travel until/unless 90% fully vaxxed is reached are true then surely international travel from VIC this year remains in serious doubt.

Apparently some of Victoria’s road map has been leaked to the press. I’ll wait to see what they actually say at the presser today

If that's true who knows if international travel will be even allowed when we reach that level?

On The Guardian page I saw that the press officially got access to the plan at 11:30am under an embargo so articles about what's actually announced should be published pretty quickly after it's announced.

What are you talking about. He said 80% double… which looks like late Oct/early Nov.

I didn’t read the diagram that was posted on Twitter…. But he did say it in the press conference.

It will be for fully vaccinated people only though I expect. Which is completely fair.

I guess because it would be dependent on other parties they’ve left travel off. But the collateral provided to the media seems to indicate that the start of November would be when domestic travel is allowed and when they might be some movement on the international front

Seeing as they expect this to occur in 2 months - is there any idea at all what these arrangements are? 14 days or 7? Aussies only or foreigners? People coming in from where - everywhere or Singapore and NZ only?

When will we have some clarity over some really basic info? And for those that think this is complicated it really isn't. Governments just seem to want to hold up things for no reason. Fully jabbed Aussies should be coming home now and quarantining at home or not quarantining at all.

Victoria's Roadmap : Delivering the National Plan Victoria’s Roadmap: Delivering The National Plan | Premier of Victoria states of relevance:

We know how important getting to the end of the year and being able to celebrate Christmas will be for so many. That’s why we are working towards having 30 visitors to the home by late December – and with travel across both interstate and international borders open again, many families will be able to reunite.

So while the Roadmap document doesn't specifically mention international travel at Phase B or C (or in fact Phase D), the Roadmap does list out the things that the Victorian Government can definitely control (eg local restrictions and (entry) state borders restrictions).

My guess is they are waiting to see how National Cabinet plays out on the 'allowable' types of international quarantine. The murmurings from Victorian authorities is a two test method - the risk of including such a suggestion in the roadmap now is that it could be stifled down the track by for example contrary Federal CMO/AHPPC advice.
