Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

I always just turn up at the gate 15 mins before departure ie. after they've boarded most people. Avoids the scrum and that's 5 mins of extra lounge time!

Problem is all the scum (scrum) have stolen all the overhead bin space. much rather forego the 5 minute lounge time to ensure I can get my carry On in the overheads and avoid having them miles away or even worse under the seat infornt or yet worse put in the aircraft hold.

Fingers crossed I can organise to be on the same flight with you and nlagalle......would be brilliant if it was a 734 too. :p

Tony I shall fly Tiger before i share a QF flight with you! Lest you ruin my PB experience! :p

Ditto. Both carry one into the lockers right above me.

Did a flight around X-Mas time, maybe earlier.
Sent a e-mail to customer care, asking why Qantas Gold's don't have priority boarding, even though it is listed as a Oneworld benefit.
Got a reply (voicemail) from QF over a month later. QF caller didn't even know what she was talking about.
Got a call tonight (~7pm) from a company doing survey's about QF complaints (0420 222 957). All my answers were all 1's, (1[sh!thouse] -> 10[exceptional]) except for a 5, for QF overall.

'meh...

It is a similar situation with AA, the airlines have different policies for domestic travel.

I am with you! Can't stand it if you get on last and you have to walk your carry on to someone other than where you are seated.

I thought that AA had a system in place, Disabled/Armed Forces/Assistance -> F/OWE ->J/OWS -> then the rest?

My main gripe wasn't getting PB, it was I got a call from QF customer care, and even they didn't know anything about PB.
QF Mascot is lost.

AA do Assistance/military, F/OWE/ExPlat, J where it exists/OWS/Plat, OWR/Gold, everyone else

Not quite Domestic but yesterday boarded QF 131 twice ( plane went tech and had to disembark )in J class to Auckland and in both cases no priority lane or signage and no call from the gate agent for J class passengers, Emerald etc to pre board...All in all thought that this was rather pathetic :(

It's a worry when the stats start showing that 200% of flights have a PB fail!!

None whatsoever at OOL tonight. No seperate lane and no visible sign until you actually entered the scanning posts tucked away next to the door. Then again, I had left when boarding was announced at the QP and may not have heard the what I'm sure were thoroughly explicit priority boarding instructions... ;)

Have not flown QF domestic much in recent times, so happy to report that 4 out of 4 (including one inadvertent one at a port that does not do it) PBs were passes today.

QF408 (MEL Gate 24) - approached after call in lounge, two lines of about equal distance, did not look good. Just after joining one of them I spotted some people heading down what I discovered was a somewhat obscured PB lane - however I went there and it was perfect.
QF790 (SYD Gate 7) - again, approached after call in lounge - perfect - long single line for general, PB line next to it with no-one in it
QF791 (ASP Gates 7/8) - this was the accidental one. Gate 7 was showing on the monitors but they were boarding through gates 7 and 8. Gate 7 had a long line but after I came out of the QP there was a long line at gate 7 and no-one queued at gate 8, just breezed through
QF451 (SYD Gate 13) - as I got off my ASP-SYD flight I noted boarding happening at Gate 10, and the announcement was very specific about who should use which boarding lane (i.e. J pax and WP/OWE pax in the left priority lane, the rest in the right lane). And this was exactly the announcement we got when boarding at Gate 13. And that is the way it worked.

Don't know if QF is generally lifting their game here, but all positive today for me.

Must have missed you twice today in Sydney by a few moments. Was in T3 from 12pm till 4.50pm! Then shuffled across to T2 lol.

With all that time on my hands I did a quick perusal up and down T3 and to my surprise priority boarding was working at every gate! And pax self regulating! I think the addition of the sign in the middle with arrows pointing which way who should go helps. Saw a few people walk up to the where the divider starts and started to jump to the empty PB line and then notice the sign and then stop and continue down the regular line.

Also noticed that when the PB line is empty the people at the scanner will call someone across from the general line until there's someone in the PB line.

ok so I have 2 flights on Friday, both are on 737-400's. Calling Tony Hancock, will you be within 100km of the airport to ruin my experience????

QF408 yesterday worked for the most part, however there were non-status international tourists in the PB line (I could see the BPs) and they were not sent to the other line. I guess they're only here for a short time so may not need to be educated for the long term, but it could encourage others to do the same if they see them getting away with it.

And this supports exactly what i've said about QF international at MEL T2.
First off, the staff don't even use the correct boarding calls (they make their own up), and they just can't be bothered to do it. Please report it.

LOL I will be within 100 KM's! I'll be interested to hear whether QF offers PB. My experience to date is that no effort is made to implement PB on the 734.
