Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Or they are removing another point of difference between platinum and gold. Devaluing platinum status yet again.

Or you could see the glass half full - I.e they are making it fairer and simpler (true sense of the phrase) as it has levelled the playing field in allowing SG + OWS priority boarding on both domestic and international as supposed to either/or.

Or improving the value of Gold status.

And leveling the playing field between gold and platinum. Thereby not making it fairer and simpler for platinum and 'enhancing' the value for platinum.

Well done to the Scum Gold. But what about the big picture? What about the value to those flying twice as much?

It is what it is. But platinum has still been devalued. I'm not sure some dig about half full glasses is appropriate either since I have lost value. Or perhaps I should say your gained value is at my expense.

I would say the biggest benefit (to me at least) Platinum confers over Gold is access to first class check-in and lounges, and the domestic business lounges over the Qantas Clubs.

Which are also about the only benefits. With the business lounge effectively only being a benefit in Sydney and perhaps Melbourne. The Brisbane one ain't that great.

So how do you feel about OWS's from other airlines in the ppb lane? Say an AA Plat? It's not that different after all.

I do think that QF should call WPs and J for boarding first, then SG.

I had the impression they were also excluded until now.

HAHAHA That gave me a good laugh. Qantas doing an actual organised boarding call?

Anyway, it's great for all the SG. :p Congrats.
I had my position to qantas clearly explained over dinner last night, I just gotta remember my place. ;)

So all that's happened is that QF have fallen into line with one world rules

What's really happened is that QF have given in to all those that thought they had PB domestically but didn't and it now means that enforcement (that they never did anyway) should be easier, unless all the PS start to think they can use the PB lanes.

What you're saying is that boarding will now be better and faster... Or should I say simpler and fairer?

I guess this officially confirms that SG really is the sweet spot!

I'll never chase WP given recent changes to seat selection!

Or its bad news if you are platinum and above. Another status benefit diluted.

So what do WPs do at the supermarket, line up with everyone else? Or expect to go first? :p

Seriously, you still have your benefit, nothing has changed for you, you just need to share the line with a few other people...

I'm yet to find a supermarket that confers platinum status. Must be a Melbourne thing. :p

By a few other people do you mean a few 100 thousand? If so, you're right.

It maybe a large number at the moment but Simpler and Fairer will ensure the numbers in the PB lane will be vastly reduced.

If I bought twice as many groceries as another category of shopper, it would be nice to get the recognition of the value to the business.
SG > WP is a huge jump in flights. Personally, i've done double retention for WP.
Its diluted as there will be more people in the line, to the point of almost, whats the point.

That'll take a *really* big plane.

All well and good to try to pretend this will have no significant impact. I'm fairly certain one of my usual flights had 18 platinums out of approximately 160 seats, on one occasion. Based in status qualification ratios alone, without considering that is a popular flight for frequent flyers, suggests 36 golds. So a 200% increase in PB lane usage. Just a few people. Nothing really.

If i remember correctly the aircraft gets to the destination at the same time irrelevant if you are platinum or gold, is this argument pointless

Well ignoring time dilation that's probably about right. Also since no one has raised the time of arrival as an issue you'd also be correct that your argument about time of arrival is pointless.
