Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Dear Red Roo,

As you well know the QF implementation of my WP benefit of Domestic Priority Boarding was chosen by QF to do lip service to this benefit and to provide a Clayton's version of this benefit. Likewise the QF web site Platinum benefit does not show this benefit, while the status benefit comparison shows it. We have discussed this via PMs and on this forum. The answers that have been provided have at best been very wanting and at worst intentionally misleading.

Seriously gowatson, give it a break! You've harped on about this to the point where your rant annoys me more than not have priority boarding. It's worse than a broken record.

We know QF are looking at it, Red Roo has acknowledged it, they are trialling different methods (of which i have seen and posted), so at least wait until they come back and say what they are going to to.

If you are so hung up about the priority boarding, keep flying VA and fly QF if/when they introduce it.

How about you let them do their trials and decide how they are going to do it first, before they go advertising it everywhere as a benefit?

Except that they had it as a listed benefit, then removed it (from some pages), and now are doing "trials".

Major balls-up springs to mind.

However - for the record - I am keen to see QF's outcome to this.

I really do hope that they just sort it one way or the other.

The current situation is quite painful.

My last point is that it will take very little effort to align the Benefits page with the Comparison page. Please note that Red Roo said he believed that what QF will deliver is not what we expect. So if and when that happens, we can judge the delivered benefit.

But what is wrong with asking QF to fix the web site errors that we have pointed out many times? By QF fixing that web site error, we at least know they are really doing something about this issue and do not intent to "Enhance" the benefit.

As for being hung up, it does not concern you that a major "premium" world airline has listed a Platinum benefit that they have never delivered and have errors on their web site that would make someone who just reads the Platinum Benefit page to believe this benefit does not exist?

Then let the trials/tests they are doing get done first then any web pages can be amended as appropriate. i'd rather they worry about that than a few web pages.

Oh and if what they have been trialling is any indication, it'll be close to what people want - a priority lane. That is exactly what they had

I don't think we have forced you to read the posts in this thread.

I think, the posts on this forum and repeated questions have made Qantas atleast to trial PB, if not we would never have even heard about it.

I think Qantas should provide a statement to this forum via Red Roo, on how long the trial will last and when it will be implemented or atleast when the results of the trial will be known. We have been told, that there will be a trial and Qantas are looking at it... nothing else. This angers a lot of us because it was a listed benefit and every other major airlines in the world provide it. So what is with trialling it? or is it training their staff to understand how to deliver this benefit?

Seriously I have other things that bother me more. I stand by what I said 3 posts above, you are bleating about it now. QF have said yes we are investigating it, they are trialling systems in SYD, so lets leave it til we see something new or it is removed. then we can either be happy with what is put in or moan at what was removed.

Have you or any other AFFs actually seen this?

If you read this thread you would have seen the photo I posted, and the fact I had discussed the whole thing with one of the shirt and ties that was there..

I do apologize as I have been in Bkk, then Hkg and back to Bkk and just a bit too busy to stay up to date with the AFF forum. Now in the Bkk QF J lounge. I even missed the VA status match announcement. I will search for the photo.

Why are you in the BKK J Lounge? I'd go the QF/BA FLounge directly across.

I was going to PM you on the VA plat announcement, but thought that you'd get it from someone else....*sorry*

Found the photos. Says "Looks Good" as he eats humble pie.

My guess is they are working our where they would place the Priority boarding lane at different gates. You will notice the banners are in different locations in another photo. I am there again on Tuesday/Wednesday and will look at it again (more photos if i get time).

They were also extremely strict at policing the queue too.

Does not open for another 5 minutes.

Would not have read them anyway. Was way too busy with business. Thanks for the thought. Will visit the VA Mel lounge tomorrow and get my VA WP card. :D

This is good news and shows that AFF does have the ability to effect change. A well done to all those AFFers that worked to make this happen.

Moved to the Bkk F lounge as they serve smoked salmon and a nice Woofie yellow label Cab Sav rather than the less desirable Rosemount served in the J lounge.

The oneworld benefit is "Boarding at convenience". The words seem to be carefully chosen, because the word "priority" is used when it comes to check in. (Why not "Check in at convenience"?)

It is interesting that QF chose, or in this case chose and then failed, to provide "priority" boarding to WP's only on domestic flights. :?:

The issue here is that other OW partner airlines have a dedicated priority queue so that 'board at convenience' is just that!

Boarding at Convenience is, IMHO, only done via a dedicated Priority BP scanner access lane. And yes for QF to be OW compliant, WPs, SGs, OWEs and OWSs should be able to use the Priority Boarding / Boarding at Convenience lane for both QF domestic and international flights.

From the posted photos it looks like only J, WP and OWE paxs will get domestic priority boarding.

Gotta love how SG get priority boarding on Int'l, but not DOM. Another example of QF inconsistency!

Or an example of what is on the website, (finally) being what happens in practice. Where the website says domestic priority for WP it also says "international only" for SG.
