Priority Privilege worth it?

No it's not, if you read the terms, point 1 of the dining benefits says:

Only one Priority Privilege card is accepted per group or table booking.
Ok. Thank you for the correction markis10. Don't want to lead anyone up the garden path. Must be confusing with Advantage Plus who make a point of spelling out the benefits of 2 memberships.

Its been that way since the program first started as Pacific Privilege with SPHC in the late nineties, as a family I have been known to have two tables.

We've been known to sit at two tables close together so we can get 50% off for each couple:D.
Works really well at restaurants where there is a long bench seat and movable tables;).

The two tables idea is something I'll look at ...

I did think of that, but on the point "one card per table ..."

Technically, it's one CARD, and one VOUCHER ... ( what is requested )

Both points and credits are paid on these, normally no issue at all. You should also get cash back, make a booking like normal through PP, but when you get to the results page, copy whats in your browser, launch mrrebates and when the normal IC page shows up, go through a normal booking to you get to the same results page, cut and past the older URL and then proceed normally.

I just joined Mr Rebates on the basis of this tip but all the IHG hotels seem to be coming up as 0% rebate?

IHG pulled out of the rebates a few months ago, it was good while it lasted, at least Accor and Sheraton still play.

Nice to hear that Sheraton has another bonus tick in their column........but what's an Accor? ;)

It must surely be the most useless loyalty scheme since the SSCLPP (Space Shuttle Columbia Loyalty Privilege Program).

PP is not a loyalty scheme. There's no bonus for being loyal. It's a benefit scheme. You have to weigh up if the benefits are worth it to you!

Yes you are right......I was speaking of Accor. Just a side line OT to the original thread. My humble apologies

I'm not entirely sure if this belongs in this thread, but since we have the card, we decided to see if there was value in it to us, so last week we booked lunch one day at the cafe at Sanctuary Cove IC and then on another day we booked lunch at the revolving restaurant at CP in Surfers.

The verdicts.

IC cafe was a nice setting, 2A, 1C and discount was as adverised (33% off total bill I think) which came down to about $58. The food was disappointing (wife had a steak which was undercooked and I had a steak that was overcooked). Service was ordinary and both of us decided there are far better cafes around that would come to a similar price.

CP restaurant was as one would expect. A nice spot to eat and watch the views, full of tourists and the buffet was like any other buffet.......acceptable but a long way from outstanding. The price for 2A came to about $95 which included a $45 bottle of wine so I guess the value was there although we both agreed we'd be in no hurry to rush back (last time there for us was probably more than 10 years ago).

Out of the two, CP I believe represented value as they offered something that you cannot get in many cities (a 360o revolving restaurant offering great views) so the saving was a genuine saving. The IC cafe competes with lots of nice little eateries in the marine village and offers nothing exceptional and the initial prices are too dear to start with for the level of service, the extent of the menu and quality of the food received.

We probably have "saved" the cost of this card in discounts, but given I'm still struggling to see the value of IHG status, will probably let it lapse at renewal time.

... but it's the accommodation discounts that has the real value.

I actually purchased two <Memberships this year, just for the accommodation discount vouchers.

... then I still look out for 'others' that I can buy from auction sites etc.

I've saved a few thousand in last year or so.

For this year's renewal I was offered a 3rd BOGO accommodation certificate (2 is the standard). I suppose that's about as close as PP gets to being a loyalty scheme - an offer at renewal time. But just the value of the 3 x BOGOs alone can easily cover the $300 annual fee.

Especially when a hotel forgets to take it at check in.

Got an email offer to renew my PP (due Sept), offering a $100 dining voucher (standard from last year) and an additional BOGO voucher or a free Supp card for wife/partner (both new).

An extra BOZGO cert may be useful for Fiji or Vanuatu .....

I will await the call next month ....

I just use this card at the IC in Sydney for dining seeing it is close to home when I am in that city. I renewed for a net $199 after that voucher offer so it won't take long to be in front. I loved the Atlantic King crab legs the last two times I went for dinner.
