I have flown on a number of 738's recently that appear on the refurbished list. I noticed new looking leather seats in Y but couldn't really discern how they qualify as refurbished. No in seat IFE and no in seat power. Same old overhead bins and same old toilets.

The divider between J and Y should give it away as to if the birds refurbished or not.

As noted they will have the plastic divider rather than the curtain, and the Qantas logo on the wall as you enter.
The rear toilets are slimmer (although they were already pretty slim) and there will be a Row 30
Rather than IFE many of the older aircraft have BYO Q-Streaming

Anyhows XZK out this morning with XZD replacing.

I flew on VH-VZQ (a Retro Roo) for QF592 PER-ADL last Saturday. My first experience with the new plastic divider between J and Y.
Awful. All the noise from the Y cabin came through into J, including the crying babies.
Very much a first world problem but surely relative peace and quiet is one of the things PAX pay J fares for?
Also a constant stream of PAX from Y trying to use the front toilet.
Clearly frustrating for the cabin crew.

Returning on Sunday QF599 was on VH-VZR which had the old curtain.
However the curtain was left drawn back for the entire flight.
Even with this the noise situation was better as soft, irregularly bunched cloth is better at absorbing noise than hard, smooth, flat plastic.
I wonder if it is policy not to draw the curtain on unrefurbished aircraft now for "consistency"?

I know VA has a plastic divider on it's 737s but that has a monument underneath it where they hang coats.
The new dividers on QF 737s seem to just float above the headrests of row 3.
Much worse.

Personally can't see either the curtain or divider doing much for noise -- just luck of the draw on the rest of the passengers

Yes I've sent feedback about the lack of curtain. They dont seem to care. Its a huge reduction in the j product in my opinion especially due to Y pax just waltzing through to the forward lav.

I'm sure the Row4 pax are very happy to lose the curtain

The cabin crew mentioned they had been told that Platinum PAX in row 4 didn't like the curtain.
I replied that it was their choice to fly economy.

VH-XZD back into service this morning making #55 for mainline. No obvious replacement from the small list remaining.
