Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

I just gave this card a shot even though I only cancelled my Amex Velocity a month ago. Was encouraged by recent posts that the 12-month rule wasn't always applied... Will report back about that. My approval SMS Has already come through. Oh and yes I used one of your referral links :)

I cancelled my DJ Amex and applied the next day (less than 24 hrs) - no dramas, application accepted.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

After applying I got a call saying since I hold two cards already (David Jones and Velocity) I must cancel one first (for some reason they chose to ignore my platinum charge card). I was happy to cancel David Jones and got approved on the spot.
The rep did say: "I hope you're not applying just for the bonus points because you're not a new card holder". I said yes no worries and forgot about it (based on reports here that it doesn't matter).
After receiving the card with the letter "reminding" me they know I have another card I became more concerned but then again, reports here been positive so far.

I've received and activated my card and would like to share my referral link with a family member for the extra points. Can anyone share how to generate that link?

I think it's because you can have 2 AMEX Credit Cards and 1 Charge Card, so that's why you weren't asked to do anything with the Charge card.

Brave guy though.. I am still undecided as to whether I want to go ahead and try this or not...

Go here and generate it
https://www316.americanexpress.com/...rHub&inav=au_menu_rewards_offers_refer_friend

also, at the end it asks you to post it onto social media. I just pick Facebook, and then change the privacy settings to only be visible by me, then copy the link out.

Very happy, points now in my Amex account waiting for monthly sweep, right on the $3000 spend. Well done Amex, unlike CBA who make you wait until March for some unknown reason.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

I have spent $3k on my card and still haven't received the 80k points. I called Amex to find out why the 80k hasn't been credited and the male rep (oz call centre) told me that I am not supposed to get any bonus points since I already have Amex card (velocity). I thanked him and quickly ended up our conversation

Looks like my wife has been tagged to the wrong offer too :(

I might have to content with paying $249 for 50k points + 2 qantas club card :-|

It's not the worst runner up prize of all time.

Despite posting this offer a couple of months ago I finally got around to actually applying for it myself (via a referral link). Easy 80k QFF points for $250. Several years of toasters coming my way ;)

Wow, 3 working days after applying for my card it arrived in the mail today. Here's hoping they honor the 80k despite my holding a Virgin Amex as well.

Hi All,

Is anyone aware if buying a points top-up would activate the bonus points and lounge passes?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I was just about to give this promo a shot and thought, ok maybe I'll forego my Virgin Platinum AMEX (which I do quite like, mind you).

Then I saw your post... sorry that happened but thanks for the heads up.

.. but I am still uncertain.

I've just booked a hotel room via the Qantas website. The merchant name on the Amex app confirms the views in this thread that it's unlikely to count as a purchase to trigger the QP's. But since I was booking anyway, I'm happy to confirm for everyone when I know for sure.

How soon after applying did you get the phone call?

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

So I applied for my card last Thu and called up to ask if they could give me my card number over the phone so I could refer a friend. I spoke to this lovely lady who told me should could not, but tried to convince me that despite the offer ending on Feb 29, that if I referred someone after this date, they would still be eligible for the 82,500 points. I'm deeply sceptical, however she's promised to call my back this Fri to check to see if my referral link still shows the 82,500 offer. If anyone is keen to check tomorrow, and I'll happily share my conversation if you guys would like to hear.

Ah extremely interesting..
So that would mean the bonus points for referrals is not expiring today!

None of us here should really have applied without the referral though :)

I'll be glad to let you know at 12.01am est.

The referral link at my last reading said it expires February. But it would make sense - amex trying to build customer advocates. Apple pay, Samsung pay and a bucket load of points are a decent way to start 2016!

Completely agree! What I forgot to mention in my original post is that she said the 82,500 by referral is for all of 2016, but they just don't want to advertise it for new customers post Feb 29!
