Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Finally got my tickets issued after mulitple calls. But been charged a reward assistance fee of 4500QF per passenger.

Is this a legit charge?

My mum who has not flown Qantas on her frequent flyer number received the $50 voucher.

Voucher of no use to her if cannot be transferred to me.

What tickets? Are you sure you're posting in the correct thread?
This?

I have another quick roll-over question: 250 status credit (SC) for Gold and 100 SC for Point Club+. My question: do I need 350 SC this membership year or just 250 would be enough ?

I am also Gold with VA, if I don't need 350 Qantas SC then I would use VA to keep my Gold status with them.

The crew spent 20 minutes playing Tetris with bags on today's flight
Even QF has adopted the term overhead baggage Tetris in their latest media release:
With baggage services normalising, customers are encouraged to check-in bags to stay within their carry-on baggage allowances and avoid boarding delays that can be caused by overhead baggage Tetris, despite our crew’s skill in this area.

I am assuming 250 + four QF flights. Potentially 150 if you time green tier correctly.

Back on the topic: My DBL lounge passes arrived, which is neat, except I'm WP (and also had just made WP at the time of the announcement), so these aren't of much use to me. I'll fire Qantas an email and see if I can get this resolved, but I suspect it won't be easy...
Surprisingly easy. Had to call up once to chase it up, but just got this email.
Dear Mx. xx_xx,

Thanks for getting in touch with Qantas Frequent Flyer regarding our recent initiative to thank members for their support.

We understand you didn’t receive the offer email and were unable to accept the offer. We want to make sure we recognise your Loyalty so we have manually applied the points reward of 30,000 Qantas Points today. You will have the points in your account now.

Thank you for your patience while we worked on your request. Please get back in touch with the team if you have any other concerns.

Thank you again for your continued loyalty.
They did say on the phone that they'd take away the DBL passes and give me the points, but it seems they didn't end up taking away the DBL passes 😝

Tickets which were released during this "apology"

Took me 3 seperate calls for the tickets to be issued with an e-ticket number and charged the points fee.

Replying to yourself is sad I know BUT ...

... after only 15 minutes on hold I got onto an operator at the Contact Centre [that is a win nowadays] ...

... who informed me that there was some problems with their promo code system and that I should expect another email shortly with a corrected code.

While apologetic he seemed to miss the humour when I asked if that would be for $100, the original $50 apology gift and another $50 to apologise for this stuff up ;)

... and one week later, NOTHING, no updated promo code.

[sigh]

After originally trying 26 August and still not getting any further info ...

I tried again tonight for a booking, no joy.

So I rang the QF Platinum line ...

For a start they couldn't apply the Business Rewards fare discount AND another promo code - no worries, lets just try the promo code ....

... and it didn't work for them either!

Some 45 minutes later with help from her supervisor she was eventually able to get a booking done for me using a code, the net value of which was $34 as the Business Rewards fare discount couldn't be applied.

Worthwhile? Nope

Grateful to QF? Nope

Thankful for the wonderful, patient, long suffering QF Hobart call centre staff? You bet!

Now cost in your time and I dare say its a net expense to you.

Another justification for me not even applying for the damn thing.

Absolutely!!!!

… but some of us are stubborn buggers …

Totally reinforces all the existing views of QF - and the delights of their Aussie staff

Happy to report I've had a response from Qantas about missing out on the status extension and "Thank You" points email. I've had the 15K points added to my account, and my app says they are extending my WP status. Hopefully it's smooth sailing from here. Thanks for the help and support from this page. Cheers
