From Qantas newsroom:
"12 months status extension across tiered members Silver and above to continue to enjoy the benefits associated with their tier for another year."
From pointhacks - tiered frequent flyers will ‘enjoy the benefits associated with their tier for another year.’
Boss Hunting - "With another year added to the Qantas status extension program, frequent flyers should be able to keep their status through till December 2024. "
Executive Traveller - "The airline’s ‘apology package’ offers a fistful of benefits including a 12-month status extension for all frequent flyers at Silver or above,"
When the news first came out (on a Sunday IIRC), the Qantas Newsroom only had the press release available, which had no details on who would be extended. I remember checking to see if I'd qualify and the Status Support pages hadn't been updated for the latest news yet.
So I think it's a bit unfair to single out all the media articles because that's all they had to go on at the time.
Like the PH news article specifically says "At the time of writing, the specifics of each bonus – including which membership dates are being extended and when lounge passes and bonus points will be added – haven’t been finalised yet."
And then a later guide covers the updated details. "Members with a status end date from July to December 2022 are already covered by a previous status extension, so they miss out on a new one. For example, those with a new membership end date of July 2023 won't enjoy a further extension, as they were already extended last month."
