Qantas Business Class meals & menus

SYD-BNE dinner - Thai Red Curry Duck.
The Duck was cooked ok but the curry lacked flavour and the rice was just tasteless. This meal could pass as Y dinner but as J dinner it was a big fail :(
It wasn't all bad though, the red on offer was Shadowfax Shiraz 2010, a good Victorian drop. The CSM was very efficient and managed to refill my glass 3 times (without me asking), not bad for such a short flight.

BNE-MEL dinner - Braised Beef Cheek.
A big improvement from the previous dinner I had. The beef was very good and tender accompanied by creamy mushrooms and polenta chips it was an excellent meal.
The red that was matched to the meal was Best's Bin 1 Shiraz 2011. Another good Victorian cool climate Shiraz. I told the CSM QF should also bring back Mount Langi (I'm a big fan of their Shiraz).

BNE-MEL dinner - Classic Lasagne.

One of the best J meals I've had so far.
The red wine selection contained no less then 3 options (!). It's a direct result of the not throwing away open bottles policy. A win win decision IMO which saves money for QF and offeres a better variety for J pax.
The wines on offer were:
S.C. Pannell Shiraz Grenache 2013. It had a purple label I've never seen before.
Wirra Wirra Sparrow's Lodge Shiraz 2011.
Juniper Crossing CabSav 2011.
Needless to say I've tried them all :)

Your one looks more like a strange version of Fettuccine Bolognese then Classic Lasagna.

There were 3 options: a pea & ham soup, cheese platter and this pictured below. Can't recall what the CSM advised it was, but consisted of small potato balls (pea sized) with pumpkin. Tasty but nothing to write about. Shadowfax Shiraz 2012 IIRC, which I said I'd had before from EpiQure. He added "yes, I saw that in your profile Mr QF WP". Intriguing what they have in their iPad about us

SYD-BNE refreshment flight on friday, had the choice of
1/ cauliflower soup
2/ cheese plate
3/ cold chicken and noodle thing
I got #3 (no photos sorry). Not bad tasting, but cold noodles are a weird concept to me. Came with passionfruit cheesecake and wholemeal sourdough.

I've had that Lasagne but it looked very different... Note the different presentation...

By the way I thought it was pretty ordinary... it was OK but nothing really that great...

...
I would suggest the Shintaro Lasagne suffered a mishap while being plated ...

A very enjoyable lunch on the SYD-PER transcon. Flight was delayed due to the weather and there was a bit of a queue for takeoff but the flight was very pleasant overall.

MacDonalds/McDonalds/Maccas style food in a box must be twee nice financially to QF, though they won't admit it.
Will not be in J if course, but I can't afford to regularly fly QFd J.

Yes, I also got a shock when having the chicken/noodle dish...I thought they had forgotten to heat it and embarrassingly checked with the crew. Would have tasted great hot... Perhaps I am getting too old for modern new age dishes??

I also had the Braised Beef Cheek with polenta chips on the weekend - looked terrible but tasted really nice. Once of the best dinners I have had for a while

After having some good dishes in Business was disappointed recently with some pretty ordinary food.

I had the Thai red duck curry, it was horrible, overcooked and I sent it back for the salad instead. (ADL-ASP)
Next flight was a beef casserole with potato mushroom beans, whilst good I got so much fat and when I say fat big chunks of it, barely any meat. (ASP-SYD)

Though the breakfast on a MEL-ADL was pretty good, french toast with a fried egg, cooked perfectly and was delicious.

I had it too. Looked good and tasted better. I took it as a sign that Qantas might be trying harder.
