Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Dk4, I am doing the disc Y flight, in Dec about Crimbo time, PER to SYD, dep PER mid arvo, and getting to SYD about 20.30 or so, and I will be looking forward to the "small" tub of ice cream, but if its been discontinued with, I guess I will have to bear with that.
At one time, they gave out ice cream on a stick.
Then it went to a "small" tub, that took a long time to eat because it was rock hard, ...
Now, though what with the boxed meals, yada yada yada, who knows what they will "issue" to us "inmates" on the dom Aust trans continental flight. I will be asking for two cups of cider in the QP before the flight.

The box meals are not part of transcon service

Don't forget it's one drink per round at the QP in PER!

I was talking about Maggie Beer ice cream tubs served in J (sorry I should have been more specific, but the thread is Domestic Business Meals), I know on "longer' short haul flights that QF serve a Weis Bar in Y. But again, even in Y, I think PER/transcon is considered "international" for type of catering offered.

(Note: My recent travel experiences to/from PER on QF are extremely limited, as most of my transcons are on VA, due to their current superior service standards & seats.)

Breakfast MEL-SYD

Goats cheese and spinach omelette with crispy bacon and mushrooms.
Not the best presentation admittedly but the omelette was very tasty. The yogurt with rhubarb compote was also delicious.

I had this one before and remember it was very good. It's nice to be served something like that when so many breakfast meals onboard (even in F) are boring and tasteless.

The price for J is very high and the non-refurb seats are not the best so a decent meal is not too much to ask for.

Don't fly BA, you should see what kind of seat and meal they will give you on a 4 hours flight! (London to Athens, Istanbul, Moscow etc)The seat looks just like economy, in fact their latest improvement it is the exact same seat and pitch, just no one in the middle. Food wise, certain times of the day all you get is a sandwich or maybe even a scone and jam. Most of my flights were mid morning so got the scone quite a lot, wasn't too bad actualy. All for the same price of the 'very high' transcon J.

Sounds bad. I was never a big fan of BA.
I have a couple of mid-haul (5 hours) flights with them next year in F, hope the seat and service there will be better.

Umm, err, you mean the more-or-less standard European business class that has existed that way for well over 30 years? Not great but most would know and also know it's something of a norm within Europe.

I wouldn't be holding out too high a hope on the food. And food shortages are fairly common too. Of course the seat will be better then an economy one, but it is essentially the CX business class seat.

The hard C (J/F) product, as with most of the other European airlines, improves when you are not travelling within Europe.

It's not just BA!

Would you like a breadroll... with him or her holding a thong with a breadroll in it...
Like some airlines use the term, bathrooms are fitted with smoke detectors and smoking is a federal offence and is not allowed in...
Why are some services so much like the Americans, using bathroom instead of plain, TOILETS!
To me, a bathroom is where we shower, like at home or in a hotel...
Not a loo/toilet!

Sometimes it is just BA.
Last time I flew long haul in J it was in a cabin with front and back facing seats. Better then their intra-Europe J but terrible design IMO. Since then I try to avoid flying with them.

It was about Europe, I was talking about, where it's not just BA that has the Y-like, C class.

But as for the BA's reverse facing (some seats only) long haul J-class. Again, it's been around for decades and has been way ahead of the rest until more recently. I loved this product! Especially on the upper deck of the 747.
