Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Thankyou, I'll be going the opposite direction when leaving Australia - MEL to HKG on QF29 and that will be a daytime flight so I'm expecting a full 3 course meal after takeoff plus a refreshment prior to landing.

Although this is from 2020, it looks similar to what is currently offered.

Snack-ish type mains (toasted sanga, noodles) and desert.

Out of interest, how many passengers actually choose to dine on this flight? Is the assumption that people tend to want to go straight to sleep for this flight?

Or is it purely cost cutting.

I rarely dine.

Unsure if I would with better food, but the menu makes it an easy choice. … and I usually don’t take the next day off so it’s straight to the office 🤣 best get to sleep.

A friend of mine flew SIN-PER in J last night (menu attached).

They left an hour late, 2 ovens were broken in J, full cabin.

He was in 1E and got the main 2 hours after take off. The guy next to me him told the crew after 2.5 hours he was going to sleep and don’t worry about food. The person behind him sent the meal back as they couldn't eat the chicken because it was so tough it couldn't be cut. The only desserts loaded were strawberry ice cream or 6 fruit plates.

His tray table was broken and was stuck in one position and then wouldn't go back in. Took 2 cabin crew to force it in.

He did say that the beef was very simple but very tasty and the wine was good. Which was handy as the crew then just kept keeping everyone’s glasses full.

Also the IFE was inop, crew were told pax knew before boarding but they didn’t.

SIN to any Australian east coast city on an overnight, is too short to both eat and sleep.
Have to do one or the other, to make the most of it.
SIN as a transit is good for passengers on QF1, bad for QF2.

As someone who only sleeps a few hours each night I don’t have any issue doing both. If I get a feed and then 3hrs sleep I’m more than happy

I concur!

Recently did the overnight from SIN - ADL (SQ) and ate in the lounge, book the cook on the plane and still had a great 4 hr sleep then straight to work on landing.

I thought we were talking about Qantas airlines, not Singapore. The latter are a different kettle of fish. I can’t remember a substandard on Singapore airlines versus the usual on Qantas.

Not quite SIN-MEL, but I was on SIN-SYD recently. 7:30pm departure.

Assume SIN-MEL is near identical. Very light service for `dinner` and breakfast.
I got this exact menu on QF2 last night SIN-SYD. Will provide photos once I'm on the laptop - but the chicken schnitzel sandwich is laughably small. Prepare yourselves!

I was referring to the SIN - any central/east coast city on the overnighter and the meal VS sleep decision those above were referring to.

I've got an overnight flight from SIN to MEL (QF38) next month and it departs Singapore at 11:30pm.

After being in the lounge and eating / drinking there, I'm not sure if I'd want a full 3 course meal at 1:30am (most likely the time that meals will be served), but at the same time - I want the "full" experience as breakfast will most likely be just that - breakfast.

I guess I'll just have to sleep (if I can) very full!
I'd eat on the QR lounge initially, QF lounge to wait for flight. Request no food on flight at all and ask to be wonen at the last possible moment before land - full recline ASAP.

Have breakfast / shower in the Qantas Domestic lounge.

One caveat - checked luggage makes this problematic (I rarely do so).

Delayed QF37 MEL 2 SIN

Standard selection for the AUS - SIN route.

The salmon crudo starter was quite nice although a bit too fishy for my taste, the pork dish had a nice flavour/sauce and the rice was tasty, the pork though was terrible (I have no idea what it even was), and I could have gone to without the garden on top 😂. Cheese plate was customised by cabin crew upon my request beforehand as I don’t like blue cheese.

Doug as CSM and crew are lovely and very attentive - top-up beers offered proactively 😊

QF76 YVR- SYD 27 Sep.

I'd had a large meal in the lounge so only had a cheese plate and fruit. Although, the menu didn't hold much appeal for me.

Drink refills totalled 2. The crew seemed to disappear not long after the dinner service.

Breakfast had new choices, and I elected for the pancakes, cold pressed juice, toast and coffee.
IMG_1344.JPGIMG_1345.JPG

The pancakes were not too bad, light but not fluffy with a sensible amount of maple syrup. The bacon was regular North America fatty and the eggs seemed 'real'. The tomatoes were quite tasty.

One difference I noted between AA and QF is the utensils; QF leave them in the chiller whilst AA do not. I prefer room temp forks, not 4°.

This and the 787 I went to Dallas on did have expresso coffee machines. The Dallas crew knew how to use it, the YVR crew did not.

QantasLink ADL-BNE operated by Alliance

Choices were a toastie of chicken, cheese and aioli or this charcuterie plate, consisting of romesco, boiled egg half, cornichons, pickled onions, tasty cheese, prosciutto and leg ham, served with lavosh.

Koko Black coconut chocolate for dessert and the usual sourdough with Pepe Saya.

Sufficient and appetising enough. I was just bummed that both options were pretty salt intensive, but that's just me. After a plate of coleslaw and some corn chips in the lounge (and eschewing the options of potato salad and hot baked potatoes with accompaniments), I picked at this plate pretty slowly and left nearly all of the ham, prosciutto and cheese behind.

Side note - cabin was roasting hot in LHR and SIN - some APU issue presumably. Boarding delayed 1hr in LHR to try and get the cabin bearable. No PDB beverage in either port, and in SIN the seat controls and IFE were turned off until after takeoff, to try and control the cabin temp. Lights dimmed on the ground also.

Anyway to the sandwich. Not much here for scale but I hope you get the idea when looking at the slice of sourdough. Laughable. I had eaten a lot in the preceding 24 hours or so, including a bit in the QF J Lounge at SIN so I wasn't actually hungry. But still.

Also when orders were taken I was asked if I wanted dessert, which I said yes to. But it never appeared and I didn't see anyone else get it either. I was tired and the IFE broke for the second time, so I just tried to get some sleep instead.

Breakfast was better, but not by much. Muesli good, coffee standard. I don't understand why they don't proactively offer real coffee (i.e. espresso etc). I could've probably broken through the fuselage with that brioche roll it was so dry and hard. Another Neil Perry hit (& run).

Will post LHR-SIN and SYD-MEL tomorrow.
