Your comment re coffee is interesting.

I've found it depends on the crew / your status what type of coffee you get. The 787 is equipped to make proper coffee (not the pot brewed / pot stuff) but it's hit and miss whether it's offered.

On one of my flights back from DFW last year the CSM proactively offered me a 'proper coffee' as he called it but didn't seem to offer it to m/any other pax. On another trip just got the usual pot stuff.
To clarify the FA's had a tray of drinks and offered to all in J - it definitely was not selective on my flight :)

Yes, I don't disagree. But at least it had frothed milk and wasn't the pot coffee which is what I had been subjected to whilst I was in the US

Dinner, opted for soup only, FA keen to have us sleep, no wine offered, felt a bit of a nuisance asking her for a Bailey's 🙄

Yes, but lower my expectations.

You’re right, they’re like the Nespresso soft sleeve capsules they use in the corporate machines.

FWIW I always find if I write ‘double espresso’ or whatever on the breakfast form that that is what I receive. If I just tick the ‘coffee’ box they will just give you standard drip. Ask and you shall receive.

In saying that we did have the CSM pass through the cabin with piccolos on a recent SYD-DFW.

Choice of quiche or the ubiquitous ham & cheese croissant. I have to admit it looked sorry, but I actually enjoyed it - the flavours worked for me, as I'd not had much beforehand in the Sydney lounge. The pastry was a custard and rhubarb danish - very buttery and flaky, so got a thumbs up from me.

The coffee machine was broken on this flight, and the FA apologised to the pax in the row behind me that she had to serve instant, and if they didn't like it, she would take it away. They told her it was fine. I assume that means it wasn't Pablo...

Poached chicken. I do like a good slather of pickled ginger. This was excellent - very enjoyable.

Choices on this flight were chicken salad, ravioli, or pork fillet. I went the pork - and started in on the veg, which was mediocre and lukewarm but limp. The pork itself was rather curious - it had the texture of duck (!) - very tender. Not bad at all. The salad was a pumpkin, green bean, and pomegranate number - tbh not much better than Neil's rabbit food. Choice of bread, cheddar and crackers, and a Koko Black bar rounded it out.

Dessert was a Maggie Beer mini tub. I wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't think her ice cream is anywhere near as premium a product as it should be.

Still no muscat on Domestic J flights, which is a shame bordering on annoying. The CSM volunteered that he would report my request in his feedback, which was a decent gesture.

Nope, Maggie Beer brand was recently rated the worst vanilla ice cream by Choice - dead last from everything you can get at the supermarket. They've trashed the brand - I recently received a cheese hamper from then and ended up throwing them out, they were that bad.

I find the whole Maggie Beer brand outrageously overrated.

Worst ever was when Qantas for a while had a "Chicken paté" as a choice on their standard Trans-Tasman starter menu (back pre-Covid when catering on the Tasman was still "International" with proper menus) and it turned out to be a simple Maggie Beer tin on a plate, straight from Woolies or Coles. Bah.

I’ve banned all her products. Have had several dealings with her in the past and she is nasty piece of work and that thought is echoed by many in our community

I didn't want any bread
The fellow in adjacent 2A got some sloppy something and wanted to change to pie. But I got the last one. I think there were only 3 pies - I got one, and 1AC each got one as well. So it seems only 3 pies loaded. Poor 2A tried to eat whatever it was but gave up soon after

Better get used to it ... I reckon we'll be seeing much more of the E190 around this part of the QF network shortly.

I fly the Alliance E190's a bit (and much prefer it on long and thin routes such as CBR-DRW vs connecting via SYD/BNE). Previous post below shows the standard they should be achieving.

Choices were a toastie of chicken, cheese and aioli or this charcuterie plate, consisting of romesco, boiled egg half, cornichons, pickled onions, tasty cheese, prosciutto and leg ham, served with lavosh.

Koko Black coconut chocolate for dessert and the usual sourdough with Pepe Saya.

Sufficient and appetising enough. I was just bummed that both options were pretty salt intensive, but that's just me. After a plate of coleslaw and some corn chips in the lounge (and eschewing the options of potato salad and hot baked potatoes with accompaniments), I picked at this plate pretty slowly and left nearly all of the ham, prosciutto and cheese behind.
