Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF75 SYD - YVR 27/07/2024

Pumpkin and ginger soup with chive crème fraiche
Beef fillet with wasabi butter
Panna cotta for dessert

The soup and beef fillet were both pretty tasty, the panna cotta was pretty average though.

Breakfast was the scrambled eggs and bacon. Again pretty average, served lukewarm at best.

It's all looking quite repetitive now

And for the other direction,

QF4 Auckland to Sydney

Options were Neil’s Bircher, bacon and egg roll or a frittata.

The food was fine, but the bacon and egg roll came out about 20 minutes after the rest of it… not sure if this is normal. Service was otherwise very good.

I suspect it is the 'French toast with bacon' which is kinda an odd combination if you ask me...the very average presentation did not help one bit either
Not an odd combo, its just toast, scrambled eggs and bacon if you think about it (and usually very delicious).

Were you on board this morning ? So was I. Had the same so I won't repost. Interesting they ran out of croissants on my side by row 7 so only toast available for me

Add some maple syrup to that bad boy and you’ve pretty much got a delicious “Canadian Breakfast” 😋

Edit: to be fair, it needs pancakes instead of toast… so let’s call it the “Poor Man’s Canadian Breakfast”

Prawn noodle salad was good, lamb not so good. Very heavy dish. Lamb was dry (which didn’t help). It was also initially described as the “veg paneer” when placed down which was quite the polar opposite.
Reminds me of a post I made a while back, where all fancy writing for the dish name & description adds nothing to the dish itself. Often times hypes up the dish and when the actual dish hits the table, it is disappointing. Especially on the QF67/68, QF69/70 routes, given the *compulsiveness* of the menu writer to include *Indian/Sub-Continent* sounding words to add *supposed* authenticity to the dish. It is sad!

QF437 SYD - MEL 11AM service still serving breakfast. May as well switch to lunch for this one really Qantas. Anyway options were omelette with sausage, fruit salad, egg and bacon focaccia. I had the egg and bacon focaccia which was actually really good!

Anyone who thinks broccoli can be presented well in a reheated airline meal needs to go back to cooking school.
AMEN to this @RooFlyer - Broccoli is all the rage now in India (& sub-continent). Been like this for the past 4 or so years. The local shops near where my parents live are now stocking Broccoli as a specialty veg. If one lets the shop keeper know, they will give a call when Broccoli is in stock.

When done well & fresh - it is a great, but does not withstand reheating. Becomes fibre-y and chew-y and loses it's taste. Becomes unpalatable when reheated.

Ex-AU QF sometimes does an Asian style tofu, broccoli & mushroom noodle dish - even in this dish, prepared in AU (just hours before departure) and reheated before service, the broccoli will taste weird. (Writes this as I tuck into my homemade curry with Broccoli that I just reheated at work lol :D)

Where were you??

ACK OT

Imagine if you both find out that you were seated next to each other - this whole time!:eek:🤣

One posts - WCMO - my seatmate who would not share the armrest.
The other posts - WCMO - my seatmate who takes pics of all the food that is given
#MomentOfRealisation - both persons sitting next to each other 🤣

Pork noodle stirfry was the only thing left - quite good and had a bit of kick too. Passionfruit cheese was excellent. Beverage of choice was the 2023 Shaw & Smith Sav Blanc

'Paella' with a pasta and bocconcini salad thing. Overall ok. Beverage was the 2023 Shaw & Smith Sav Blanc again.

It's a cabane à sucre on QF 4.

Yeah it's ok but really it's close enough to lunch, we get of the plane at 12:30ish, then by the time you get your bags and get to town its 13:30 etc. I took the foccacia because it was more lunch like than the omelette. Was actually one of the better looking and tasting offerings of recent times.

I read this thread too much. The menu looked like I’ve been having it for the last two years. Bannockburn chicken ... snapper ...

IMG_3222.jpeg

IMG_3223.jpeg

we were four hours late so the lunch service was begun slightly after 12 which suited me fine. Unfortunately, as usual it was the excruciatingly slow meal and drinks service. I was in the middle of the B787 main J cabin so have opportunity to observe how they went about it and I just couldn’t figure out any system they were following. But oh well, it's their job, not mine, so what would I know?

First the drinks trolley and I asked what white wines they had. Choices were Chardonnay or a rosé. I mean really? Just white one white wine, and a Chardonnay at that? I survived on G&T’s until the main course and then switched to Cabernet to go with the snapper 🤷‍♂️

first course - leaves. they were crisp..

IMG_3228.jpeg

Pumpkin (😊) soup

IMG_3229.jpeg

Bread

IMG_3230.jpeg

Snapper (you can tell the delay after getting the bread by the level of the wine and lack of bread). Two very large scallops

IMG_3231.jpeg

Then later meal service

Bread

A bit later, chicken curry. This was very nice.

Cheese

Overall, not bad. Serving portions were good.
