Second leg of my SC run (see post #6979 above) from AKL-BNE.

IMG_6784.jpeg

Choice of a cream based pasta, braised beef with mashed potatoes or a smoked salmon vermicelli salad.

Had a salad before (a year ago) and thought it was good so had it again.

Went with the 2020 Yering Station Chardonnay which was surprising good.

Daniel the CSM and his Auckland based team was great and provided a friendly and relaxing service.

Thank you. In a post above asked about chardonnay so glad to have it confirmed what I thought it was

Third and final leg on QF555 from BNE to SYD.

As our flight departs after 7:30pm, we were offered a choice of refreshment including the Ploughman's plate, a baked ham and cheese croissant or a spinach and lentil soup.

Had the Ploughman's plate which went well with the Shaw and Smith sav blanc.

IMG_6788.jpeg

Matthew the CSM offered a great service including constant top up of drinks and engaged with all J pax really well.

All in all a pretty solid trio of flights with QF.

I love the spirits onboard domestic flights and the koko black chocolate very good too . I can’t wait to go away soon hahaa which is next week

I haven't flown international QF J red-eye (well 8pm departure) since last year, but my recent QF30 experience was very disappointing to say the least. No nuts served even though it was stated on the menu, main course served 2 hours after take off (at which point, I declined it so I could get a few hours sleep), and then when breakfast was served, noting that the breakfast order card was ticked early on in the flight, there was no asking of 'would you like any water/coffee/tea, anything else with your breakfast'. It was merely put the tray down with what you ordered and only to be sighted to collect the tray. Honestly, worse than any QF economy experience I've had.

I've taken 10 flights, 7 of which are international J, in the last 3 weeks, and this was by far the worst service. This was the only QF one though.

Edit- menu added
I have always got the drink requested from the card although not major if there asking again

I agree the ploughmans plate was very good (although it only has one small piece of cheese).

For me, it is a bit strange croissant is on the menu for an evening flight as I am more used to it as a breakfast thing...

QF635 BNE-MEL 10/6

Has QF stopped serving PDBs on Dom? Thankfully the seat works this time around, though the recline felt a little lacking - maybe just me.

Selected the curried chicken, came with a box of moist carrot cake. A little spartan, but the BNE lounge did tasty pies baked-to-order from the oven, so wasn't too hungry.

sadly there are many reports on here of bizarrely slow service on QF.
Every time I fly to/from Japan, I end up sitting around for at least 30+ minutes after finishing my Japanese entree before getting the main. The Japanese entree is always served before the other meals, and the main is always served after the other meals.

I now avoid the Japanese meal if I know I want to get sleep.

QF has not served PDB on domestic departures for years! Sometimes you are lucky to get one after take-off, as in before the drinks trolley comes around. Memories......

Yes it is odd having croissant 🥐 for dinner tooo . Maybe that’s how they go through the stock of croissant 🥐 from breakfast item by using it for a late night snack as well

I was lucky enough to get my entree on a Japan flight just before turbulence seatbelt sign on then .

6:30pm MEL-AKL flight Saturday Night.

Offerings for the remainder of row 1 were a Salmon dish of which there was still one available after 1A/1C had both selected it, Chicken and mushrooms with vegetables or a beef salad.
I had the Chicken - reasonable.

As a contrast with Economy on the return, I had a cold chicken and noodles serving. While I had low expectations, it was fine.

That chicken dish looks quite similar to a gluten free poached chicken entree I have been served in international J.

Those were the days on QF. CX even do them in Y+!

QF82 5/8 (equipment change to domestic A332, as Finnair was operating the previous day's QF292)

Midflight snacks laid out at galley near L1 door

Menu

IMG_0601 Large.jpeg

Main - Rendang with kangkong - acceptable but not quite as nice/punchy as the SQ/MH rendangs. Sticky rice pudding dessert

IMG_0602 Large.jpeg

Breakfast - served as selections off trolley

Mel to Syd - options for lunch. Cauliflower soup, chicken with rice noodles or roast lamb. The chicken was quite popular and ran out by the time it got to us. We had the lamb and it was actually quite nice.

Service was quite slow though. Business class was served way after economy, which means rushing through lunch. One of the crew from economy class helped out and was fantastic. He was way better than the main business cabin crew member.

QF436 MEL-SYD 19/7

Original 10AM flight cancelled with just 3 hours notice! Originally put on an unacceptable 5.30PM flight, thankfully the South African call centre managed to get me the next scheduled flight instead. Options were fruit salad, ham and cheese croissant or corn fritters. Comes with a danish and a pocketed-for-later muesli bar.

IMG_3793.jpeg

Maybe I'm just used to the crispy Indonesian corn fritters, but this felt more like pancakes. Still tasty though.
