Qantas Business Class meals & menus

MEL-SYD
QF492 Supper menu

Vietnamese beef brisket salad
Carrot and lentil soup
Cheese box

Hungerford Hill pinot gis
Tulloch Pokolbin Dry Shiraz 2014

Got the salad. Sorry no photo because it looked and tasted so good.

12/12 in J and a full Y (including Row30) thanks to F1 traffic

QF601 BNE/MEL this morning (Thu 24/3)

Goats cheese omelette with sausages and tomato (sweet chili?) relish and hot cross bun. Greek yogurt with Apple compote hiding underneath and to the side (away from photo vision). Very tasty omelette and went well with the relish. Didn't enjoy the sausages as much (beef) - give me pork ones any day

I know this isn't domestic - but Trans-Tasman J is very much the same. No pic of the meal but did want to post the menu from a recent Auckland-Brisbane flight. The soup was nice, ice cream and biscotti great as usual. But the reason for posting is to note just how fantastic the hapuka was! Extremely tasty, well cooked piece of fish. The dish was packed to the brim with eggplant, couscous and the puree, surrounding a generous piece of fish. Best J meal I have had in a long time.

Apologies for lack of a pic - it wouldn't have done it justice anyway.

Really disappointed getting this yet again (MEL-CBR) 6:30pm. No choice, stone cold, tough vegetables (though slightly better than before). The last leg of a $3600 CBR-SYD-PER -- PER-MEL-CBR full fare. Woeful.

PER-MEL lunch much more satisfactory. Also on a refurbed bird makes things better.

Smoked trout with Japanese salad. Small portion and didn't think the smoked trout would go well with pickled veg but it was very nice.

Also sampled a bit of the red curry coconut soup - it was superb.

Beef tenderloin with roast veg also really nice. Meat a bit too salty but that just meant more wine was required.

I also had this as my lunch for my midday QF J SYD-ADL flight on Good Friday. I actually thought it was not bad. However the chicken sandwich, which my son had, is better. I book this flight under award ticket though, and we ate quite a bit at the QF J lounge before boarding, which was why I was quite happy with the vegetarian option.

Menu for QF598 PER-BNE on 14th.

I skipped the small plate options, had the Hokkien noodles. And the ice cream. Was pretty nice.

I had a booking for a dinner flight in J, on 11 Jun, on the 330, it would have been my first dinner in QF J on the 330.
Then the 330 flight got cancelled, so had to go J on the 737, I wasn't having that.
So now have a refreshment snack, in J, for a flight departing 14:00 MEL - SYD, on the 330.
I had changed this flight once already via 131313, but will try for an earlier departure at 13:00 at the J lounge, see if I succeed.
Would be my first J lunch if it works.

So far out from the flight, anything can happen.
Don't get your hopes up AP.

QF1554 CBR/BNE 11 April

As I was in 3A, I was only offered the fish. I thought it was tomato relish atop the fish, but this one had serious bite (I didn't put that much pepper on) as my tongue was dancing and in serious need of heat quenching from the red wine and water (multiple refills). Wouldn't want it any spicier

You will probably find on this short sector that you will find anything special compared to the "everyday dining" offered on the 1400

and frankly the equipment it's served on won't change the meal option one iota.

Is it just me or is the trans con flights food getting worse and worse every trip?

Going over to Brisbane last week it just utter cough some Mediterranean chicken cough, was just bloody awful and the Mrs had a Pulled Pork brioche burger, most rank tasting thing I've ever had on a plane it was bad enough infact that all of them were going back up the aisle after lunch with 90% of the 'burgers' still on the plate.

Coming back to Perth was no better, some mexican cough for breakfast that most people sent back. The best option was a croissant. So glad coming home was an upgrade. Pisses me off paying 2k and getting absolute cough served in comparison the boxed meals seem to be pretty damn good....might start asking for one of them instead lol!

QF need to work on their main plates for Lunch and Dinner and offer a couple of actual options as well rather than just having one 'big' meal.

Check this thing out tonight MEL-SYD

2nd worst airline meal I've ever eaten.

Also here is the kids J meal, wish I had it.

I'll see your chicken slop or whatever that thing supposed to be and raise you with this greasy and oily salami & cheese "snack" I got today flying MEL-SYD.

I was very hungry after missing breakfast but simply couldn't finish that thing.

This chicken salad with grapes I had for dinner on MEL-BNE couple of days ago wasn't a big hit but at least more healthy than that artery-clogging sandwich above.

That looks like a beef strog gone wrong.

As for the Pulled Pork slider, that has been going around for a while. My only gripe I had with it was that there wasn't more (I did enjoy).

I'd reckon domestic AA F isn't looking so bad these days by comparison!

Agree. Have said it before - their starters and salads at least leave QF Dom J for dead.

I've had far better (than QF J) Y food on discount airlines in SE Asia recently and some stunning Y meals on Indian low cost airlines (admittedly going back a few years) - eg a box of 3 or 4 tandoori prawns, 2 chicken drumsticks, a paratha and a veg samosa - all on a 1 hour flight. Ticket cost $35 (albeit about 6 years ago).
