3/04 QF678 ADL to MEL refreshment service
Offered Ruben sandwich, fruit salad or smoked salmon and goat cheese salad- went with the last, paired with a GB sparkling - I really enjoyed this

Yes, comparing this chicken "stew" to previous meals, and other posts on this thread, it was probably a bit sub standard. I just remind myself, it's a means to an end (P1)

I had an 1130 departure SYDADL last week. Forgot to take a pic of the morning refreshment but it was the trout something, if we were in France it would be trout rillettes. This or a variation of it has been around for a while now and I always like it as an option. CSM was great on the flight. My one observation was no wine offered with the food run :o but this was remedied by a brief visit to the galley after the meal service. A delightful Pinot Gris that of course was consumed only in the name of research.

SYD-OOL Dinner service last week.

"Herb crusted fish" was the description provided. No idea what fish it was, but it was like rubber. The spinach/celery stalks were horrendous.

Other option was some sort of plain salad.

Y had a choice of baked salmon salad or beef and mushroom pie. I almost asked for a pie to be brought up to J...

Very ordinary meal.

Can anyone post a few vegetarian meals? Every time I fly J the vege meal is bean salad to start, followed by dried pasta in a tomato based sauce. And do I have the right to a dessert on the menu or is that just at the discretion of the CSM?? I'm so disappointed with vege meals...

Many airlines have reduced their range of special meals to the lowest common denominator. This can mean being served 'vegan' even if you have selected 'ovo-lacto' from the drop-down list. This saves on cost... they only need one meal (vegan) to cover a whole range of passengers.

But it also leads to 'lazy' catering. It can mean for ordinary ovo-lacto vegetarians that the airline scraps all the trimmings... cheese, ice-cream, milk, even bread... all go because they just mark you down as vegan. This means when you ask for dessert it's often a case of having to wait until all other pax have decided if they want dessert of not, and you get what's left over.

It's not isolated... Cathay and even singapore airlines can have you marked down as 'no extras' because of your special meal. SQ the other day replaced the dessert and cheese courses with a single banana delivered to me after dinner. This was a 'no fish meal' and when I asked for cheese they had to go ask the CSM if it was 'ok' to serve me.

I'm so upset to hear that.... $2K PER > BNE and I get easy, awful food. ARE YOU LISTENING QANTAS???? We're in the 21st Century, Vegetarianism isn't wierd any more...

Give the feedback to Qantas via their website or their Facebook or Twitter rather than an anonymous forum. Then Qantas maybe listening.
