Qantas Business Class meals & menus

oh, almost forgot... one flight the S&S was there (sigh).. other flights had pretty decent Eden valley riesling offered for the white.

MEL-PER seat 2K 9.05am, which turned into a 10.05am departure due to catering not being loaded onto the flight. Fortunately it was eventually loaded. Flight time was 4 hours and 10 minutes due to very strong headwinds.

I chose the pear and rhubard danish. It was very meh.

And the chicken and bacon sandwich. It was equally as meh.

Desert was this. No bigger than a 50 cent coin.

PER-MEL 10.10am. Flight time just a fraction over three hours. Strong tailwainds but we were also slowed down a bit by air traffic control. Service on this flight was terrific.

I had a nice Boags Premium to start with still celebrating Richmond's 104 point victory over Freo. It was delivered with some warm almonds.

Chose the smoked trout salad for starters. It was very nice.

And the garlic prawns with chorizo for lunch. Also very nice.

Dessert was a Maggie Beer ice cream or a small cheese plate with some grapes. I couldn't fit anything else in.

That looks way better than I expected (albeit a little coronary inducing). I regret not choosing it when I saw it on the menu!

4 flights over the weekend but I only ate on 2.

QF426 MEL-SYD: Cheese & Chives omlette. Much tastier than the mushroom one offered 2 weeks ago on the same flight/day 2 weeks back:

QF1569 (717 service/NJS): "Chilli duck with rice" - this was... not great. a real let down from the usual high standards for ex-OOL (wherever they are catered from).

The other thing I noticed. MEL-SYD/SYD-MEL sectors had the S+S.. SYD-OOL/OOL-SYD had different Rieselings offered.

Wonder if the S+S is now limited to the drunk... I mean trunk routes?

quick poll: Who prefers the change for PDB from a choice of water and some sort of juice to water - still or sparkling?

I do not like the change myself.

It's pathetic. I didn't think the PDB for a several hundred dollar (minimum) flight could be enhanced further, but it has.

Omelette above looks terrific though.

A choice of still or sparkling water as a PDB is a very poor enhancement in my opinion. The glass of juice, while not the most fantastic option, is a lot more appealing than a glass of water! It did enhance the Business class experience to some extent.

It's a small part of the experience, but I think choice of water, juice and sparkling wine (at minimum for evening flights) should be standard.

I've had a bloody mary as a PDB on an AA domestic flight in F before, why not on QF???

I actually prefer sparkling water to juice - but do agree that it looks pretty cheap. I would prefer they offered water, sparkling water and juice before takeoff.

Also, slightly off-topic but when were the noise-reducing/premium headsets eliminated?

While Domestically & trans Tasman the black hard shell over ear ones have been "premium" for over a decade they are not active noise cancelling devices.

I just completed a couple of domestic legs and the headphones were the same ones as in economy, those that you pick up from the bin at the gate except in business they were pre-placed in the seatback pocket. The trans-Tasman flights offered the better headphones that you get on longer international flights though.

I always bring my own noise-cancelling headphones which ever cabin I'm travelling in. So it doesn't matter much to me what is offered.

As with most things QF, inconsistency is the only thing you can rely on.
