Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Breakfast menu PER-SYD 5:15am A330 service:

Was not looking forward to this flight - mainly the 5:15 timing but also given reports of poor breakfasts and my own experience of woeful red-eye flights on QF. No opportunity for breakfast in hotel or in lounge - but did have a coffee and a nice fresh juice made for me in the latter.

But was very impressed and pleased with the flight. Menu was good, service relaxed but efficient, and watching a sped up dawn from 37000 feet always a pleasure.

For the life of me couldn't add another pic so had to do separate post - I had the eggs. Came with the yoghurt and I selected the zucchini loaf. Lovely FA was happy to serve me a Bloody Mary (or two) and she agreed with me it was the perfect time for one (or three).

Eggs were nice. I had assumed they would be poached for some reason, but the scramble with feta worked well. Generous serve of chorizo, mushrooms and kale too.

mini cake came round about 45 minutes before landing but I declined. After a quick teleconference in the domestic terminal lunch awaited in the F lounge!

Edit: juice was also offered on this flight as a pre-departure beverage, not just water or water.

Every now and again I fly Y to see what I am missing back there. Another Moderator and I were consigned to Row 4 on a 717 to MEL

I normally fly Y domestically unless chasing status with indirect flights or gifted an op-up.

Row 4 is great. You get served whilst some Business passengers are still waiting to be served their meal.

If you are getting a little too used to flying J then a flight in Y is a good cure.

Sometimes in Row 4 I've finished my boxed meal and am onto my second quarter bottle of wine before the poor J pax in row 3 have been served!

Similar here - I buy Y and generally upgrade to J on points for flights over 2 hours. But a 717 and sitting next to samh004, catching up on AFF Mod stuff was too tempting. Plus my wife was in 4D :o

Sometimes the boxed meal is almost as good as the J meal. Definitely a possibility to have finished - the J load was 7/12 on the way down.

Well it is one of the better status run/indirect routes. I did MEL-BNE-CNS return in J last year for example. North Queensland is a great place to visit especially at this time of year. A bit tempted to do it again this year to enjoy the J service and make more progress towards LTG.

Here was the vegetarian option on today's QF435 SYD-MEL: A quite serviceable spinach, potato and cauliflower curry with rice and beans. Smell was very appealing too.

Along with it were pre-packaged bread slices (1 Soy & Linseed, 1 White) and the rather nice chocolate/caramel tart to finish.
