Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Fine by me. My VA switch is all but complete - I'll be Platinum shortly. I think I have 10 flights booked in my QF account but don't have plans to book any more after all of these enhancements.

Lunch yesterday (1pm flight) on VA between MEL-SYD was a delicious lamb dish with a warmed bread roll (something you don't really see on QF now) and a delicious cheesecake for dessert. Choice of still or sparkling water, and of course alcoholic beverages.

It was more than enough to sustain my until I had dinner at 7pm. ie: how lunch should be.

Do you need a travelling companion ???

Salmon with Soba (not Udon as I stated previously) noodles. Salmon was good but its a shame that the Soba noodles were gluggy.

I had a surprise yesterday, travelling from Canberra on QF in 1A, when I wasn't given a meal choice (nobody was) - other than a meal or nothing.

The meal itself consisted of 2 small prawns, a very small amount of noodles, and just green garnish.

On the plus side, it wasn't a choice of cheese box (which I am well and truly over) or nothing.

Are domestic business meal choices on QF going the way of the dodo? It's an area where cost savings can be made, so is prone to "enhancement".

Food choices in the CBR Domestic Business Lounge were also a little sad (why do they keep serving the same flan and slice sweets - some variety would be welcomed), but I was asked by one of the young ladies in the lounge if I'd like a drink brought to me (and I saw her asking others too).

If anyone from Qantas is reading, I'd be more than happy to accept at least a decent pre-prepared sandwich than a cheese box or soup offering - if you have to cut back on domestic business meal costs.

Setting aside the sweet wee rabbit, curious presentation of the salad - in a bowl?
Were you expected to use a knife and fork with that?

I can say that I was offered choices on both my recent flights. Not that I can now recall what they were.

We have had the beef salad once or twice in recent times and the salmon many moons ago but the current offerings on the MEL-BNE-MEL meal time runs have been "enhanced" to the current levels for what seems like 6 months and longer and not just the "summer schedule"....Qantas do not seem interested in making a 2 hour flight more enjoyable in J...Even AA with similar flight times offer hot choices and I for one really look forward to flying first on AA domestic and business on their international services....Qantas could learn plenty from AA in regard to catering:)

Ling Fish selection. First time I've had it and it was good. Unable to remember what the mash was on the right hand side of the main plate.

Other choice was Mediterranean Roast Vegetables.

Qantas - Melbourne to Perth

Pan Fried Snapper with Saffron and Preserved Lemon Butter, Braise Chickpeas, Eggplant

Snapper was amazing!

The entree was quite good and they had a Noble One onboard! The food in the Business Lounge before the flight was amazing. Impressed with the standard notwithstanding the recent cutbacks. full trip review check it out at Sydney / Melbourne / Perth (Qantas Business Class) – Easter 2014 | Life of a Travel Czar

This is the menu onboard QF571 on the 8/4.

I honestly think two soup options is too many (and should only be a small plate option).

Went for the enchilada and it wasn't that awe inspiring but filled me up.

Maybe the pick of the bunch from the menu is the fish...

Sounds like it might just be the same soup. Two different sizes and two different toppings. Unless the big plate option is kept in a separate flask.

Looks great! I missed the Noble One on QF, good to see it's back. Wirra Wirra is not as good IMO.
Reminds me I should organise a business trip to Perth sometime soon :D

There is a bug with posting images from iOS, however it definitely was a picture of the menu as I do t have that image on my phone.

It was the second menu - there was no specific dessert menu - could only opt for the Brownie or Fruit Platter :(

BNE-ADL QF 667 on Friday, departing 11.55am, so expected something for lunch in J.

Options were spinach soup, pasta salad or the Cheese Box. Was a little surprised at the lack of either a warm solid food option, or in fact any protein component in the meals, and the CSM serving immediately agreed.
Lucky had chosen 1D, as the first two rows all went for the soup until it ran out, suggesting that pax had an expectation of something warm for lunch!
(Interesting that the small, heart shaped syrup cake was labelled as gluten, egg, dairy and yeast free)
The CSM later offered spare Cheese boxes as a "second course" which was appreciated.
I've emailed Customer Care, suggesting that even some decent mixed sandwiches, a mini quiche or glam party pie would be appreciated, at surely not much cost differential.
Hope the saving on providing separate VGML options is working out!
