Qantas Business Class meals & menus

re the jaffle/carbs overload.

to be fair the FA offered the slice of bread but in a way to suggest "sure there isn't enough there?" kind of way - not rude or anything and I laughed and said something like surre... bread with bread - but just the one please (cuz I am a sucker for the bread and I knew I wasn't eating anything else till later)

the jaffle was, ahem, quite firm and not soggy at all. The content (kind of mushed up beef, mushies with some peas) was hot but it wasn't overdone (like the good old days of putting too much into a jaffle and it getting a) soggy and b) going everywhere lol.

Thinking of the stage length of MEL-ADL being short, this was a good option IMHO - quick and easy to eat, tasty as a bit of comfort food. Healthy? well not really but hey... once in a while

there WERE options of a salad and a tomato fennel soup also so let's be clear the jaffle was not the only option on this short flight :)

Pre-lunch drink:

Small plate:
Crab and herb rillette. Was actually really tasty. Love crab. Wine was Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz.
No bread was offered until I asked for a slice during one of the FA's runs to the galley (after the main)

Large plate:
Lemon chicken. Not the best.

Didn't get a pic of dessert, but I had the bread and butter pudding and it wasn't the best either.

Star dish was the crab out of what was a disappointing catering effort here.

Flight: QF594 PER-BNE
Service: Dinner

Forgot to get a pic of the menu... may have been because of too many of these :

Small plate:
Prawn salad. Was a bit bland. Wine was Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz.

Main plate:
Roast pork. Olive and tomato on top was overpowering, had to scrape most of it off. Pork itself was OK for a meat dish served at 40,000 feet.

Dessert:
Macadamia mousse with pear.

Did a quick trip PER-MEL:

The prawns were ok, I actually liked the pork, and the desert was a cupcake. Yes a cupcake. Pretty pathetic for a trans-con meal. No idea why the images are 90' rotated.

I've been a Platinum for three return domestic flights now. My year is up at the end of this month, and I'll be platinum until 30 Nov 2017. No idea beyond that.

I love the J lounge cooked breakfasts, but the rest is pretty underwhelming. Don't care about the shadow.

Gold really is the sweet spot.

Unbelievably so - the service was finished at least 60 mins before arrival so really is quite pathetic. $2k each way and no desert!

I've actually raised it with the FA's a few times now - and each time they say it's because of the short flying time!

Honestly - how much extra time would it take to hand over a pre-plated decent dessert, than the pathetic slice in a patty pan? VA are able to serve dessert on the same sector.

Nothing to do with the flying time, and they're hardly going to tell you the truth, which is that it is likely a cost saving measure.

QF978 (BNE –TSV) 14/10/2016 – Dinner

Lamb & feta meatballs with risoni and green beans with aioli dressing

QF978 S.jpg

Other choice was chicken caesar salad.

Wines offered were;
  • Serafino Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
  • Shaw & Smith Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Exactly - they still came round with the desert trolley. Just served the cup cake off the trolley! Nothing to do with time at all.

There have been reports here of no dessert at all on PER-MEL. I hope this 'enhancement' does not come into effect on other transcon routes.

It is five and a half hours BNE-PER. . .

Hope not. Doing this flight next Monday and I like dessert.
