Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Everyone is different. For $10k, why can’t QF do dining on demand? What else do cabin staff have to do for 14 hrs.
I kind of did this once on a DFW-BNE flight (yes, I know that's ages ago).

Asked the J crew late in the flight if I could have a couple of the main dishes, and they were OK with it.

I agree - can't be a big deal even with skeleton staff on such a flight until breakfast. No offence intended to the cabin crew on AFF.

Depends how many people want the dine on demand option! Would be easy if we went back to pre-plated dishes, just heat and serve. But with individual components it might not be possible while crew are on rest breaks etc?

Other airlines do it well, and consistently & offer it pro-actively - QR for instance. But I dare say the work/contract conditions of QR are harder than those of QF (at least mainline). Which is why QF are always trying to squeeze mainline/Australian crews out.

I've commented before that I think a lot of the service deficiencies on QF are due to the agreements their union has negotiated, and won; they don't 'have' to do stuff - but I don't know. Good luck to them, but the customers notice.

QF189 SYD-TBU

9am departure, served lunch which was fine given I’d eaten breakfast in the lounge and the time zone adjustment. Three options: Thai pork coconut curry, Beef brisket with Mac and cheese or chicken salad. Beef and curry were both good. Sparkling wine/water served pre-departure, nut packet later in the flight and glass kept full throughout.

QF190 TBU-SYD, 5:40pm departure.

Double catered out of Sydney so flat sparkling offered on boarding and only option was Carrot and pumpkin spicy thai soup with a very generous serving of snacks on the side. Soup was fine, Olives were my favourite of the snacks. Impossible to get through everything. Wine refilled throughout flight with more snacks offered.

Same flight attendants as the way over. Great, old school Qantas service and both very solid flights despite the double catering.

Anyone got a recent menu for SYD - LAX

or the return

Date: June, 2024
Flight: QF654 PER-SYD, Red-eye (delayed departure @ 01:55) A330-200
Service: Light Supper
Meal: Toasted Focaccia (Ham, Cheese, Pesto). Was actually very tasty. First time doing the red-eye and due to the delay I was concerned there may not be any service at all - the Perth J lounge was pretty much closed aside from some very lackluster nibbles (bar also closed) so no chance to fill up pre flight.
The "bread with a side of bread" serving made me chuckle.
The Koko Black chocolate (top left) was delicious.

Alternatives: Pumpkin Soup
Wines: just had water!

I'm sorry I just can't get excited about these. Of the options presented, fine, but that's a low bar. Reminds me of coming home from primary school and whinging about being hungry only for my Swedish mum to tell me to fend for myself with the cold meats, cheese and pickled veggies in the fridge. 🙃
Yeah - you'd all be fed better than that if you came around to mine for a BBQ and I'm not even an airline. :p

QF744 ADL -SYD
2 options.
Nicoise Smoked Salmon Salad & Chicken Thigh in Lemon and Garlic Sauce both tasty with a Belgian chocolate crunch (Not really a sweet tooth but this was delicious) Red wine top ups. ( and given the left over bottle to enjoy latter tonight 🍷😘)

A few days old but QF 295 SYD-BKK
Both entrees were enjoyable and would happily have either again
Mains snapper a little dry but lovely flavours, beef well I like mine rare so never gonna cut it for me but the Lord enjoys it hence why he keeps ordering
Neither I or the lord are huge sweet tooth’s so it’s always the cheese
And lastly Tiger prawns (which were spicy but enjoyable ) and cheesecake
Overall a decent meal over

That's date 11th June this year.
It’s very odd, the date of the article is 11 June but the URL is 24 June (next Monday) perhaps it’s leak on the agency portal and currently under embargo to be released on Monday?

I was shown the Campari on a recent flight back from Hong Kong. Also saw the Johnnie but is was black not green.
