Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Qantas staff can be so friendly and attentive, but whether their processes are outlined in a way that makes everything inefficient, or whether they just don't have enough staff on board to make this a swift and well executed experience, or even if the equipment they have isn't specced out to optimise for meal services I don't know.
All of the above.

That aside, there is work being done. There was a whole bunch of trial flights as they start to revamp the service to make it quicker and are introducing some new service such as a bar service on supper flights.

The trolley needs to go, other carriers with no trolley seem to do the service much quicker with a much more efficient galley / staff set up

Prawns (I honestly think I’ve had similar tasting dishes on Cathay in Economy). Somewhat of a surprise but they had four pillars onboard (I guess no menu on the Tasman flights means no idea what you’re getting).

You mean re-introduce. There always used to be a bar service on QFi, even on things liked SIN-MEL. It got dropped. On a flight a good while ago, those of us who knew we weren't going to get a bar service asked for a drink or went and extracted one from the galley. A couple of people who clearly didn't know what they weren't going to get were quite upset about what they saw as a service failure on QF's part to not offer a bar service to everyone as they didn't get offered a drink that they were expecting.

As we're now seeing multiple reports of people being served cold (hot) meals, it seemed things are perhaps not heading in the right direction.

QF158 AKL-MEL

Delayed about 90 min after boarding. Debris on the runway apparently. Bonus water and snack mix service on the ground. I should have asked for another glass/thimble of bubbles.

Hot smoked salmon salad was very nice. Greek salad appetiser was heavy on the onions. Canary cheese was cheap (and served in economy on other airlines).

Flying QF on trans Tasman is really about the extra space rather than anything special in terms of service. Such a pity they cannot return to the quality product and service they used to provide not so long ago.

QF449 SYD-MEL 22/7

Double whammy with the return flight (QF499) the previous day being cancelled too! Re-accommodated to a flight the next afternoon. Got hotel, food and airport transfers during the layover. Upside is that the flight is now on an A333. Still, I seem to be on a 💩 streak with QF.

Choices for "afternoon tea" were a beef pastie, a potato and leek soup or a cheese plate. Quite hungry when I arrived at SYD as the flight started boarding, so I skipped the lounge fare and asked for a serve of soup after the pastie, which the FA thankfully obliged.

That’s a tasty looking spread for afternoon tea, no doubt enjoyed even more thanks to the space in the A333

QF 741 Ploughman’s platter, throughly enjoyed by the Lord and I. Other options were Cauliflower soup and Vegetarian pizza.

Wine top ups not proactive and when asked to have rest of glass (nearly full) popped into a plastic cup for landing met with a blank look (never had this issue before and rather have been asked and usually topped up 🍷😂) but they managed to find a couple of cups for us 🎉

Those were the same options on todays QF594, Interestingly I had a different type chocolate and slightly more prosciutto (should have taken a photo).

Until next time take the glass with you instead

Pushed back and departed on time - after take off CSM came around with a drink before starting dinner service.

The cabin manager did apologise several times but only 1 option was loaded for this flight. It was described as prawn risotto but from a glance at my neighbours it appeared to be the paella mentioned previously. Unfortunately I'm allergic to prawns so declined. Things got worse as after serving 2A/C J was now out of food and the remaining 1/2 of the cabin has no meals left. I opted for some bread, and vegemite did appear later. Slept for the rest of the flight. Both J and Y had blankets and pillows upon arrival at seat.

QF1953 - DRW - ADL
SDT: 1845 - FT: 3:45

Boarded and pushed back ahead of schedule. Drink arrived shortly after take off with the standard almonds and pretzels. Two options for dinner, thai pork curry with rice or beef brisket with mac and cheese. Opted for the pork curry which I have has before. It wasn't as good as last time. Rice was mushy and the curry was very bland. Ice cream served about 1.5 hours later and despite the managers best effort. Watched her take them out at dinner service to defrost but it was still frozen solid. Overall last 2 flights have left me very disspointed :(.

Customer care form. Your allergy is irrelevant given they didn't load enough meals to serve the cabin. Should receive 5k points.

No photos (sorry) but had my first inedible J meal on QF483 SYD-MEL last Friday. Dinner service. Some kind of lamb stew thing with peas and potatoes that looked like dog food, tasted like how I imagine dog food tastes, with a slight aftertaste of... petrol? Something very weird. The peas were grey. No accompanying salad, just bread. Ate the potatoes, left the slop.

Ham and cheese toastie for afternoon tea on QF464 MEL-SYD on Sunday hit the spot. My Koko Black choccie was white chocolate with pink salt. Not a fan of white chocolate but this was quite nice.
