Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF512 SYD-BNE, 10 am departure.
Full J cabin - 3 options - frittata, french toast, or a French-style salad with vinaigrette dressing.

I was in 3C, Mr Katie (who has an Aussie accent and was born here in Qld) was in 3D.
The FA served 1AC then 1DF, 2AC and 2 DF, but then 3FD and 3CA.

3F declined a “schnack” as the FA was calling them - Mr Katie in 3D got the second-last French toast.
It was then up toe and Mr 3A to dexide who wanted the last French Toast or last Salad.
He let me choose, and I chose the French Toast.

I was surprised to see bacon, spinach and beans …
The “toast” was eggy on the bottom and bready on the top.

Overall a very confusing concoction.

I'm travelling BNE to PER next month and have the choice of the 0830 vs the 1320 departure .
I'm interested in what the meal will be on the 0835 service.
Will it be breakfast - my experiences with a QF domestic have not been positive .
I enjoy the hot meals on domestic longer distance flights .
I would prefer the earlier flight but not if it was the classic breakfast offering.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'd put my money on breakfast, even if 0830 is sort of just on the cusp.

Any readers got an idea of what the BNE-PER J bfast looks like ?
As you alluded to, it probably won't be anything very different to what you would be used to seeing. Some egg dish, probably a cold dish (muesli), maybe a wild card like pancakes or some sort of toasted cafe sandwich.

Happy to hear further from the crowd

Just did a search again - there is an older post on AFF of someone flying BNE-PER, but it's a 0900ish departure.

Right now.

QF935 BNE-PER 0900 departure.

‘Lunch’ at 1030 EST/0830 WST. Three options. A standard chicken/veg, moussaka and a prosciutto salad.

I went for the latter as a lighter option at this time of day. Very acceptable. Again, not a bowl of NP Rabbit Food in sight. 🥳

Red was a Vic shiraz. Can’t recall from whom, but it was fine.

Oh! That’s the french toast I was raving about up-thread.

Yours looks a little pale compared to mine. Mine was eggy on too as well as underneath and was really delicious!

Refreshment service SYD-MEL yesterday, choice of ploughman’s or toasted pita bread with roasted mushrooms. CSM recommended the latter. Filling was delicious! Sort of like a rich bolognese mince. Pita bread didn’t reheat well. Was sort of odd.

Couple of slices of bread and washed down with G&T.

Superb CSM and crew. I’ve let my subscriptions to disney and parma mount lapse, so board early and use the time to catch up on shows!

Currently on QF19 SYD-MNL 18/3/25IMG_2428.jpeg

Grabbed the apertivo which had some great nuts and the margarita was decent but too sweet for my taste. Mixed in a little water and it made for a more palatable drink.

Went with the soup for starters and gotta say, that was damn good. Nice and flavorful, good texture and the temperature was solid. The bread, like every time I’ve had it, tastes like fridge. Wasn’t noticeable with the soup though. Salad was salad, was fine.

The mains was surprisingly good. The silverbeet reminded me of my grandmothers cooking, which isn’t high praise. Tasted fine, but was overcooked and limp. The steak was good, especially for something that’s cooked to well done. Most of it was actually pretty tender with only two patches that were somewhat dry. The sauce was stellar. Needed some salt and once that was on, it all came to life. The polenta chips were amazing. I’m a sucker for polenta chips at the best of time but these were great.

Finally, desert I went with the ice cream sandwich. Standard affair but was rock solid like most airline ice cream.

When I ordered it the other day the flight attendant warned me that she thought it tasted too sweet...and she was right!
It was like someone put twice as much syrup in as you’d normally expect. I prefer my margaritas a little more fresh, less sugar.
